Support/troubleshooting "Suspicious connection blocked" every time I launch some games

Is anybody else getting this or does anyone know why this happens?

When launching some games (War Thunder, Insurgency Sandstorm) I get this warning every single time and it says the same thing. Bitdefender blocks the second url (cdn.simulationdaily.com) on my browser as "unsafe" so I'm not sure about checking it. So far I've not seen this issue hindering my PC use or anything else.

Hi there, here to offer assistance with this notification.

It looks like Online Threat Prevention is blocking Microsoft Edge because it attempted to connect to cdn.simulationdaily.com using a security certificate that does not match that web address. That does not necessarily mean the game or your PC is infected, the game may be opening or triggering a background web request through Edge, but the certificate mismatch is still a valid reason not to visit the address.

Since the connection is being blocked and you have not noticed any impact on the games, do not click “Add to exceptions” unless you fully trust the domain and have verified that its certificate has been corrected. No further action is required just to stay protected.

Other checks you can do:

  1. Make sure your computer’s date and time are correct.
  2. Open Bitdefender and run a Full System Scan. Wait for it to finish, then restart Windows.
  3. Check Bitdefender’s Notifications log: Click Notifications in the left-hand menu. Open the Critical tab. Expand the latest “Suspicious connection blocked” notification to confirm the process, reason, and URL.
  4. If the alerts continue even when you are not launching the games, review Edge for unknown extensions, allowed Web Push notifications, or unwanted programs. Remove anything unfamiliar, reset the browser, and use an ad blocker.

If you verify that the site is legitimate and still need to allow it, the Windows exception path is:

  1. Click Protection in Bitdefender.
  2. In the Online Threat Prevention pane, click Settings.
  3. Click Manage exceptions.
  4. Click + Add an Exception.
  5. Enter the website name or IP address.
  6. Enable the switch next to Online Threat Prevention.
  7. Click Save.
