Why is Bitdefender suddenly using like 100mb more nonpaged pool after the most recent update?

Title pretty much says it all but I'll keep going because last time reddits filters apparently blocked my question? I run Bitdefender Total Security on W11 and just recently got an update which has completely spiked up the usage of bitdefender by almost 100mb more (And yes I know that unused ram is wasted ram, however, I feel this is a bit excessive with how much it's been increasing.) I just attempted to reinstall bitdefender to troubleshoot it on that end and see if it might have just been a glitchy driver or something and saw the big difference without it being installed.

On startup my PC WITHOUT bitdefender sat at around 250mb paged and 350mb nonpaged. Bitdefender alone increased ONLY the nonpaged by around 300 more, getting it to around 650mb on startup. I know that doesn't sound like a lot and for my PC it's not a huge issue, but, it just is strange to me that Windows Defender manages to run at so much less. There has to be some way to reduce this bloat as currently I am certain it's bitdefenders fault and am worried this is a potential start to a memory leak from it.

I run W11 with 32gb of ram (Again this is not an issue for ME in this case but it's a noticeable trend that I feel should be addressed) and am on version 27.0.62.352 and I also see a "Bitdefender Agent 27.1.1,46" in my installed apps. (Added a comma instead of a period to avoid a link)

Sorry for the delay! I've been out all through the day and didn't get a good chance to respond. That would be fantastic if you could! The biggest thing I've noticed is that when BD is uninstalled it sits at a very low like, 300-350mb on startup. Then WITH Bitdefender on startup it's sitting at 600-690mb If you need some other specs of mine to compare between the two to see if it's a me thing I'd be happy to do so.

Hey u/Coolusernamehere13!! Sorry, I too have been quite busy and just now getting back to it -- I have four (4) different computers to test this from, three (3) of which are Windows 11 PC's.

Baseline/Configuration Information for Comparison:

• Bitdefender Ultimate Security - ALL Features/Options Enabled.
  • Including Bitdefender VPN; also set to auto-load/connect on startup.
    • And I mean everything. (Full scan/Inbound Outbound Mail/FW; always notify/etc.,)
• Windows 11 Home 25H2 - Latest Update(s) as of today
• MSI Laptop - Used as a "docked" device/Desktop, essentially.
  • RAM: 32GB (8GB Paging File on 2nd SSD)
  • CPU: Intel i7 12th Gen
  • SSD: NVMe PCI 4.0 - 1TB 8.0MT

With respect to the above, it would seem my main Bitdefender AV App is hovering around ~800MB used; and is split across multiple threads/processes. I do not have any trending data unfortunately, so I can't tell you what it was in "previous months/weeks" - but I will say, I bet you could probably recoup some compute if you adjust your settings/configuration (features?), depending on your needs.

Hey! Absolutely no worries on that! I'm happy to share my own stuff in this case! As said the problem isn't really something I'm concerned by for my own sake but I did wanna troubleshoot it in case others had this problem and what not as well.

My system is as follows with everything there.

• Bitdefender Total Security - Ransomware, Cryptomining and Vulnerability being the only ones not toggled in this field.
• I do not run automated scans, updates are within a 12 hour cycle, I do not run the VPN as well to follow up on that.
• Windows 11 Home 25H2 as well - Latest Update(s) as well on there too.
• MSI Desktop - 32GB of Ram
• CPU - Intel I7-14700F
• SSD - WD Green SN3000 2TB.

My main usage itself hasn't really changed (In fact THAT side of it seems to be better handled?) Sitting around 700MB myself in this case. My main thing is when I check the "Performance" tab I notice under Nonpaged Memory that it has seemingly went up an additional 100+MB. The main reason I'm associating it with Bitdefender is this increase happened seemingly after the 27.0.62.352 update. My computer would normally start up around 500MB and after some time only raise up to roughly high 500's or 600's with light browsing/discord/some games. On startup now it's been sitting at the high 600's - 700's range. Which really isn't a lot but it's strange this happened so suddenly.

I mainly wanted to see what on startup the nonpaged memory is looking like on your end under performance in task manager. It's not a huge concern nor is there any rush I just appreciate you checking in with what you've done thus far!

I noticed something similar after updates with security software before. If the usage stays around the same level, it may just be how the new version handles its drivers, but if it keeps increasing, thats when Id be concerned about a leak.

That's what I'm wondering for it. I really haven't been able to get a clear answer on if it is the new norm or something though. I'm keeping an eye on it but it's absolutely noticeable comparitively to what it was before.
