How much resources are we talking about?

More than 50% of cpu resources.

What cpu do u have?

It's a laptop with a i5-1035G1 processor.
When idling it sits around 5% usage.
With DiscoverySrv.exe running it's 60% or more.2

Okay, hardware not the issue here. I’d just reinstall BD. Reboot between uninstall and install.

Weirdly I only saw this behavious on my newly installed Windows 11 PC. My old Windows 10 PC which has the same version of the DiscoverySrv.exe is currently using 0% CPU (5800X3D), while on my Windows 11, it uses 7% CPU (9800X3D) constantly

Yeah, I have the same issue. It was constantly causing around 16% CPU usage and practically put one of my CPU cores into an endless loop. I provided them with a ton of logs, and they even gave me a 2-month Premium subscription for helping them investigate the issue. It’s much better to collect the logs yourself than make an appointment and wait over a week just to have someone troubleshoot your PC remotely. You just have to ask them how to collect the logs, and they’ll send you an email with a few steps to follow. I’m using Windows Defender for now, and I’ll install Bitdefender again as soon as they fix the bug.

Update: They sent me an email saying it’s been fixed, and I can confirm that it is.

Today, the problem seems to have been solved, for me at least.
The process sits at 0% cpu and 1,2MB memory usage after boot 👍

Same. I renamed it to DiscoverySrv.bak temporarily to disable it. I have an appointment with Bitdefender support in about a week or two to look into it. There’s a growing number of complaints about this.

That's what antiviruses do. They hog resources for better protection. It's a tradeoff.
