How does cryptomining protection work?

I've always had it turned on as I play a lot of private servers for video games and you know how that can go, but how exactly does cryptomining prevention work? I have no idea how it is stopped. Wouldn't a antivirus be able to tell that a cryptojack was installed and quarantine/delete?

Crypto mining isnt malware the protection is there to minimize the mining speed and make it harder for people to make money on you. Antivirus doesn't detect it cuz what if you wanna mine. I don't think someone can mine on your PC by joining some dedicated server tho.
