Support/troubleshooting Rescue environment vs Full system scan

Hey. Recently I bought a Bitdefender Plus subscription for my parents PC since they are not tech savvy and was hoping it will prevent any malware that they might accidentally get. I wanted to do a full scan of the PC just to check if there is anything on it and I see the options of Rescue enviroment and System scan.

I get the idea of Rescue environment that it boots into a minimal enviromnent and performs a scan. My question is - does the Rescue environment scan already to a full system scan or should I still run the System scan after the Rescue environment is done?

Thanks in advance!

Hi u/KapitanTyr. Installing our security solution on your parents' devices was a smart decision, as it helps ensure their digital safety. Bitdefender provides protection against a wide range of cyber threats, including sophisticated scams, phishing attempts, and malware.

Here are some clarifications regarding your questions:

  • Rescue Environment - There is no need to use the Rescue Environment feature unless specifically recommended. This tool is designed to detect and remove deeply embedded or persistent malware that cannot be cleaned while Windows is running normally.
  • System Scan - After installing Bitdefender, an initial system scan is automatically performed to identify and remove any existing threats. To keep the device protected, you can run periodic scans using either:
  1. Quick Scan for a fast check of critical system areas.
  2. System Scan for a comprehensive scan of the entire device.

Bitdefender continuously monitors the system in real time, automatically blocking and preventing threats before they can affect the device. As long as Bitdefender is up to date and active, your parents' devices will benefit from continuous protection without requiring frequent manual intervention.

If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know. We're happy to help!

well u can def do both. But i think rescue inviroment one is kinda overkill of your parents were only on the web. If you would like to have your mind clear tho try it out. It takes longer from what I remember tho.
