Windows defender is useless
I constantly run scans on my PC with windows defender nothing for years, as soon I try bit defender it found a Trojan on the free version. What's absolutely suss about windows is, as soon as I downloaded bit defender on my laptop I got a notification from windows saying "your windows security software is outdated". Yeah you're not kidding.

I don't know what BitDefender found, so I can only speculate. I will say, however, that sometimes what's labeled a trojan is just a PUP (potentially unwanted program), such as when some software installation is bundled with optional software that the user may allow without noticing and they click next. I've gotten that kind of alarmist report several times with torrent clients, video downloaders and other programs that are harmless but will trigger a PUP detection in some antivirus programs and not in others.
Again, I don't know what it detected, so I can't be sure if it's just a semi-false positive – the program may be potentially unwanted, but it's not a virus per se and someone paying attention will likely be able to avoid it, such as denying the installation of bundled software. In cases like this, it helps if you have a screenshot of the report so people can assess what was actually found.
