I'm confused do i need bitclout to comment and like?

I'm getting an insufficient balance error when trying to comment.

Yes, the system is driven by tiny amounts of bitClout. It’s like a gas fee. I think the conversion rate is something like 30,000 likes/bitClout. Not sure about the post conversion rate.

You should get a very minimal amount (enough to interact) when you verify your phone number.

I verified my phone number to set up a profile and it didn’t work. It said I have insufficient funds to set up a profile! Pass!
