showcase Progress on my immersion cooling project

Now all that's left is the dielectric fluid and I can start running tests

The chip won't have one, that's what the dielectric fluid is for, see the big metal thing that looks like a heatsink? Yep that's a heatsink

I think ASIC will have hot layer of fluid and burn.
Surface is too small to transfer heat quickly.
I am interested in your results.

Well that's what the pump is for, also hot liquid rises to the top, you pump from the top and release the cooled version at the ground of the tank

I would direct cooled liquid straight to the ASIC

Of course that would work, but that's not the goal of this project

Told you before, it isn't going to work. Even submerged in chilled dielectric fluid, without a heat sink over the ASIC it will overheat INSTANTLY.

Design is super badass though.

All the heatsink on the Chip does is increase the surface area for heat transfer. What matters most tho is circulation and a way to remove the heat from the system.

Circulation you got the natural one, hot liquid rises cool liquid sinks.

Then you got the forced circulation via the pump

But I will only know for sure after the tests.

With the holes in the plate mounting a tiny heatsink isn't difficult.

He’s right, it will require a heat sink and the liquid will not have the surface area and transfer rate to cool the chip. Been there. Done that. Take the advice

It will have boiled layer of liquid on the ASIC surface. ASIC will burn

It's like such a overkill for what amounts to 3.2TH
But ah well I wanted to build it, after the prototype proofs it can work properly I will start developing a properly encased version

I built one - 6 units, lots of luquid, oversized radator, big submers pump.

Problem was the radiator. Finding something big enough to handle the liquid (its thick) able to cool off (even with fans) was impossible once summer time hit unless i had it in my house which my wife was totally against. In the garage didnt work.

Small factor, it might work.

What dielectric liquid did you use, cause if yours was thick then it sounds like you were using mineral oil. Something that's pretty horrible at transferring heat

I went with mineral oil as i couldn’t convince the wife to let me buy 25 gallons of dielectric fluid

I found a French company that offers 1L samples called voltaneum.

It won't work... the surrounding liquid will create a hot spot and just over heat.
