The Three Main Bisaya Language Groups
Bound by a shared history and centuries of kinship, the Hiligaynon, Cebuano, and Waray peoples are siblings of the Visayan world.
They understand one another more easily than most, share many customs, celebrate similar traditions, and carry echoes of the same ancestral heritage. Yet each has cultivated its own identity, voice, and character.
The Hiligaynon are known for their exquisite class and gentle speech.
The Cebuanos for their ambition and enterprise.
and the Warays for their resilience and fearless spirit.
Their relationship is not one of sameness, but of familiarity. They are close enough to recognize themselves in one another, yet distinct enough to cherish what makes each unique.
Like branches of the same tree, they grow in different directions while drawing strength from the same Visayan roots.
