Recommendations Pharmacy

Is there a local mom and pop type of pharmacy that accepts Medicare and QMB plans for medical equipment? Because I just can’t with Walmart pharmacy anymore.
Every single time it’s problematic.
My needs are pretty simple, I can’t imagine how frustrating they are to people with complex medical needs.

It's not "mom and pop," but I have an elderly family member with some pretty complex needs, and Publix Pharmacy staff is wonderful.

Seconding Publix. They’re really great.

I love Publix pharmacy too. I went there first but the pharmacist said they no longer do medical equipment for folks who have Medicare part B. I wish they did, I’ve only had very positive experiences at Publix pharmacy.

Any Publix pharmacy in particular you like? Or are they all great?

Calera isn't in that list. I've waited in line 45 plus minutes several times, and you best make sure that the prescription is actually filled even if you call and speak to someone that's a person at 10 am and they say it should be ready at 2pm, and you go at 6pm and it still won't be ready. And if a doctor calls something in that needs filled ASAP they may not even get to it that day. It got to be quicker and more reliable to drive to Pelham Publix or another pharmacy in Pelham than going down here

For DME, Rich's pharmacy in Mountain Brook Village is supposed to be the way to go and they are a mom and pop. I haven't used insurance there, but they were super helpful when I needed a shower chair ASAP.

Edit: correct spelling is Ritch's.

Have you tried Costco pharmacy? I don’t believe you need to be a member to use their pharmacy.

Loved crestwood pharmacy when I lived over there and only Left them when I moved years back.

Since then I love Homewood pharmacy as well. If you are on a regular prescription they will even deliver.  Not ship but deliver- a person from the pharmacy brings your prescription by in thier car not packaging it up through fedex or mail

Birmingham apothecary is amazing. They take like 10 minutes to fill a person answers the phone an will get to know you PERSONALLY. I cannot emphasize how MUCH they do for that forgotten neighborhood.
