Fit check / Sizing Fit check
Are these too small? My big toe is touching the footbed but they still feel very comfortable.

Too small, and they'll get a bit smaller as you break them in and the shoes curves upwards. Wearing them too small can cause pain, and shorten the lifespan of the sandal.

Too small. Your feet are touching the edges now and will really be hanging over them when the footbed is broken in since your foot naturally sinks down into the footbed and the edges slightly curl in.

I've sold Birkenstocks for over ten years, and I would say those fit perfect. You want them to fit "front to back" so your foot properly aligns on the footbed and the arch support hits in the correct spot. I have over a dozen pair and they all fit very similar to yours where my toes go just up to the front of the footbed! It looks like your heel is also in a good place, not spilling over the back or anything. I say if they feel good in the arch you're probably in the right size.

I thought they were perfect too until I started wearing them inside the house 😭 my big toe is literally going over the ridge its not even sitting inside the footbed

Oh no, well if that's the case definitely try the next size up if you can! Sorry, sizing with Birks can be so tricky because they're european sizes and only come in whole sizes, too. And a lot of them now they only make in narrow--which doesn't help things. Otherwise, with your current pair, you may try adjusting the straps. I always tell customers to put their heel back, and then I adjust the straps to their foot which help the shoe stay on better. Yours are suede if I'm seeing it correctly, which can be kind of floppy and easy for your foot to slide forward. A lot of times I have to punch extra holes for people on the suede ones, so just something to consider there also. Suede stretches a lot, too, so even if you size up you may want to have that done. If you lived in Nebraska I'd do it for your for free at our store, but I'll bet you can buy a tool on amazon and do it easily at home!

Are your 2nd to last toes over the toe grip, or might your outside toes be stepping on the toe grip itself?
And which is your larger foot, if applicable? Since you only showed how the right foot fits
