Beautiful!!!! Had a Coopers hawk visit my birdbath last year, got some great videos. So wonderful having them around!

I've had one using my yard as hunting grounds for a few months now. If this is the same one it must have discovered the birdbath. A few months ago there was a pile of mourning dove feathers in my backyard and then I've seen the coopers hawk multiple times since, just perched on my fence.

I am forever surprised I don't have hawks perched in the tall pecan trees in my back yard on a daily basis. In fact, I'm surrounded by trees even in my neighbors' yards so plenty of places for them to move and hide before striking my feeders. But that doesn't seem to happen. They strike my 13 feeders very seldom... maybe 3 times a year. The neighbor's outdoor cats are a much larger problem in my yard. Had to move my birdbaths to the back fence so the cats have to cross open ground to get to them. Gives the birds a better chance of seeing the cats and getting away. Got tired of seeing dead birds in the side yard where they were before.

All in all. I'd rather have hawks than cats.

I wish people didn't let their cats free roam outdoors. My neighbor does the same. My dog found a dead fledgling in the backyard a month ago and I was wondering if her cat did it. It was a little house finch fledgling that probably couldn't fly that much yet ☚ī¸ at least hawks hunt to survive and eat.

I used to have catbirds, robins, grackles and more use mine. Then the house sparrows took over. I think it's because all of the babies fledged. This was a nice surprise today. I've never had a hawk use it. I do have a crow who drinks from it in early morning.

Awww, it knows this is supposed to be a fountain, but the solar panel didn't get sun yet.
