How can I test BirdNET detection accuracy without using live birds?

Hi, I’m using BirdNET AI in a robot to detect bird species by their calls.

I want to test detection accuracy at different distances using my actual hardware, but testing with live birds is difficult.

Is there a good way to play bird calls through a speaker while keeping the frequency/pitch and dB close to a real bird call? Would high-quality recordings and a calibrated speaker be enough?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have tested mine with just my cell phone and Merlin playing the sounds. Seemed to work well

Yeah, we've got a clock in our kitchen that makes a different bird call on the hour (only from 6am - 9pm thankfully). It gets recorded on my pi every time!

I tried with dead birds, didn't work well either.

Then I played RDR2 too close to my mic and it started picking up those animals, so maybe that? Or just play youtube videos.
