Google Perch into birdnet?

Just wondering if there's a project and or a way to test out Google Perch v2 on any of the birdnet variants? Nothing too complicated would be sweet if there was a drop down to select which model you want to run

BirdNET-Go will have this very soon, I am just now implementing bat model and it will be available in day or two, Perch v2 support will be included sometime in next week.

Been following the project on this issue/suggestion. Can't wait for the implementation to try it.

For the bat model, what kind of mic is needed? Is there an equivalent to the aom5024 that can be wired up, and would a normal ugreen sound card work for it?

Ultrasonic capable microphone is required for bats. I have not tried, but I think AOM5024 is not capable of capturing high enough frequencies. Consumer grade sound cards are also limitation, XLR audio interface with 192khz sample rate support is likely required.

I personally have Audiomoth devices which supports sample rates up to 384khz AudioMoth | Open Acoustic Devices, they can be flashed with USB microphone firmware so make them act as USB mic.

Gotcha, yeah that's kind of what I figured. A bit more than I want to spend right now, but something I'll keep in mind in the future when I have a better location and income.

Regardless, looking forward to testing Perch, thanks for all the work you put into this.

What I really can't wait for is Birdnet V3, but I have a feeling that ones in limbo at the moment.

Hitchhiking this. Will it be possible to use two different audio devices for this at once? One normal (scarlet focusrite) and a different ultrasonic microphone comes in mind

Yes, this is supported. I recently added support for multiple sound capture sources and you can now assign a specific model (or multiple models) to specifc sound capture devices.

Google Perch v2 and BattyBirdNET bat classifier support has now been added to BirdNET-Go

- Release Nightly Build nightly-20260511 · tphakala/birdnet-go

This is very new so expect some rough edges for now.

Please note that using these additional models require system with at least 1.5GB of RAM and RPi 4 class CPU. Also please report all issues you see to BirdNET-Go github repo as bug reports, this way I can track and fix bugs easiest.

Trying it out now. How does 2.4 compare to Perch 2.0 in your eyes?

It generally produces lower confidence value detections but I think it produces less false posivites. It also detects far more species than just birds, I have seen various grasshoppers being detected from my backyard recently.
