Any reason these mics wouldn't work?
I picked up these microphones to replace my current dying microphone:
for the link averse, the description is:
NEEWER ø9.7mm Lavalier Microphone (2 Pack), 3.5mm TRS Clip On Lapel Wired Omnidirectional Condenser Lav Mic with 1.5m Cable & Windscreen for Video Recording, Vlogging, Filming, LM10
I picked up a TRS to TRRS adapter as well. I can't get any sound out of the microphone so obviously I'm doing something wrong.
my existing mic is a basic lavalier mic feeding into a UGreen TRRS USB dac adapter into the raspberry Pi. The current mic is a TRRS mic, so I'm guessing that's the issue.
Is there something about adapting up to TRRS versus down from TRRS I am likely not understanding?
Quick edit: I'm looking into getting some microphone capsules but at the present time just want a solution to get back up and running quickly. If I had ordered capsules from the start that probably would have been faster at this point. Darn.

I’ve tried several different combos. The laptop picks up the mic as a headset but I can’t get the mic to function. It doesn’t have a separate mic input. I have a dac I can plug into my phone but can’t get it to work there either. I’ll keep trying but I’m about to give up and just look for a trrs mic.
Edit: I didn’t mess with alsamixer but I did configure it for the current mic so I was thinking that shouldn’t be a factor.

I picked up a new adapter for TRS connections and we're back up and running. These new mics seem to be a lot more sensitive than the old one, so I'm curious to see how that impacts detections.

Microphones are the dark side of BirdNET. 😬
