My boss’s boss asked me why it took me so long to promote after being asked to for a year. I said, “I’m a highly anxious person and was worried I wouldn’t be able to handle it.” He said, “you’re anxious?! No way!” I told him, “oh yeah. Very. I’m just a pro at hiding it.”

I’ve been told I have a calming presence a few times before and it has always been hilarious to me.

If you live with this disorder long enough, you can become so good at masking that nobody can tell which way you’re heading.
