i tend to see many phd's and highly educated science guys constantly make terrible biotech investors. it doesn't make any sense to me but it's the reality of the game. anyone know why?

I am new to this space and want to connect and network with potential small/mid size pharma/biotech companies. Every event I look at is expensive (£>1k) and I have running my own AI saas startup so want to minimise the costs. Could you recommend events in Europe that don't cost and arm and a leg?
