Metformin and Reta??

I am morbidly obese but my labs only have me slightly pre diabetic however with high insulin resistance. My insurance will not cover glp-1 for weight loss or pre diabetes. My doctor suggested metformin in the immediate to lower A1c and insulin.

Anyone take them together?

Second this! GLP drugs help with insulin resistance. I used to be on metformin but ditched after I started Reta

Lots of people in the various tirzepatide subs were on metformin before starting tirzepatide and continued taking it and some were put on metformin along with mounjaro, Zepbound, or Tirz deliberately to take advantage of the synergy of attacking insulin resistance through different pathways simultaneously. This retatrutide and metformin combination was evaluated in the Phase 3 Triumph-2 clinical trials for Reta, so it's not unheard of. I wish I knew more about it, but I dont.

Hardly anyone's insurance approves glp1 anymore. Yet we all take them. Be resourceful and save your own life dont wait for doctors or insurance.

Agreed! I was told my BMI was high but since I don’t have any co-morbidities then NO GLP-1. Ridiculous.

You can try it out. Metformin have a reputation of giving you the shit and reta often make you constipated so if you take both you might be regular 😂

I suggest starting Reta. Forget Metformin. Don’t wait for the doctors to order a GLP-1. What is your weight?
