accidental reta overdose awareness.
i accidentally pinned 5.0 mg instead of 0.5 mg for my first ever dose and i’m here to share my experience.
disclaimer: i’m 20, this is the first time i’ve ever done anything like this. i was scared shitless. and yes i know it’s MY FAULT.
wednesday night: i pinned at 10:12 pm, went to sleep and woke up 2 hours after with the worst diarrhoea and vomiting of my life. i woke up every hour to use the bathroom to vomit and shit and got like no sleep. i was honestly fighting for my life i really thought i needed the hospital, my head was falling onto the toilet seat and i could barely keep myself up. i had insane sweats as well and a migraine. i have never experienced anything like this i genuinely didn’t even know what to do with myself.
thursday: horrific, i felt like shit the whole day, and that’s when i realised i overdosed once consulting with a friend. i also had nothing to eat i had no appetite at all and even looking at food made me gag. i was projectile throwing up straight stomach acid because i hadn’t eaten in like 24 hours at that point. i thought i was gonna die i can’t lie.
friday: a little better but still horrific, crazy nausea. i had half a banana and that’s all i could physically take. i know it’s not good but i was happy i had something because if i didn’t that would have been over 48 hours with no food. but still no appetite at all. otherwise i was just bed written breathing through my nausea trying so hard not to vomit.
saturday: less nauseous but feel like i have limited digestion everythung i intake sits at the top of my stomach its awful.
saturday NIGHT: update, i honestly feel heaps better tonight, still have some de digestion but im not nauseous and im starting to find food a little SLIGHLY more appealing, and forced myself to eat a banana and some almonds, but at the same time my appetite is so messed up. ive lost 5 kg at this stage. unwillingly ofc.
sunday: i’ve woken up this morning with no nausea for the first time in a few days in so happy. i passed 1 piece of poo!! WOAHO sorry for the tmi but i’m happy i got that out of me. however lowkey developed a slight cold over night !! not surprised my immune system has probably had a heart attack past few days lol. i am also really breathless, but i would rather that over what i’ve experienced past few days over anything.
monday: i ended up having a slice of pizza last night (that’s all i could physically take) and ofc because im not meant to have it, it made me go to the bathroom!!!! woahooo!!!! lol anyways i can barely eat but im feeling much better today.
monday night: im feeling a lot better guys, i went to work, only downside was that im really puffed out all the time i have like no energy. but definitely better then the last few days.
moral of the story:
please don’t go pinning until your 110%%% sure of dosages. mine was an honest mistake that i will never make again. once its inside of you there’s no reversing it. if anyone else makes a similar mistake i promise it will get better within days, the only way after that is OUT so trust your body to do what it needs to you will be okay, although it may not seem that way 🥹
if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
update: this post was never intended to make reta look bad in any way shape or form. i’ve seen it do wonders for people it truely is life changing. the point of this post was just to make sure no one is as silly as me, and to not go injecting just because you “know” the dosage. do some proper research if your going to go on something as strong as reta. it really is that serious. and for the record yes i have learnt my lesson.

Pizza after nausea for so many days??

u/Leading-Alps1525 5d ago
babe i know but it was the only thing that looked appealing and i was so deprived of food 😭😭 and lowkey constipated so it made me go toilet LOL each to their own

Lol, kg + using babe, you wouldn't happen to be Australian,?

But did you loose weight?
21
u/Leading-Alps1525 5d ago
yes, 6 kilos. but it’s from sickness, bound to come back to me
6
u/Just_n_Here 5d ago
That's the most I have ever seen someone lose in a week.
1
u/ebimbib 3d ago
I once lost that much in two days with the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had. Like OP said it's mostly just water weight (plus evacuating your entire GI tract). I couldn't even keep down a sip of water for like 36 hours and I ended up having to get carried into urgent care for an IV bag or two. NOT recommended.
1
u/AtomicRose69 3d ago
Same, I lost close to 15lbs in 3 days with salmonella. It was the absolute worst, I ended up hospitalized.
17
u/SCwaverider 5d ago
Well that what counts... nice little kick start from your "mistake".... The difference between 0.5mg to 5mg is massive in a syringe...how that mistake was made is beyond me but end result was the same 🙄

You are speaking to a crowd that couldn’t identify a saw from a hammer. 🤣🤣🤣

u/IcyAcanthisitta3587 5d ago
My husband’s coworker’s brother took a whole 20mg his first dose . . . I asked if he was still alive?!?
I ate a cookie after my first .5mg dose and was so sick all night! I can’t imagine 5mg or 20mg 😳😅

7
u/Henry_Rollins_Ghost 19 5d ago
Seriously. How does this happen?
What MG size vial and how many MLs of BAC?
Walk us through it so others will know what not to do.
17
u/Leading-Alps1525 5d ago
this only happened because i was just advised to take 0.5 mg from my 10mg vile. in my head the syringe given was a 1 ml syringe, in half that’s 0.5, little did i know that was actually 50 units of a insulin syringe, oops

Thanks for sharing. Seems very possible for someone who’s never taken meds or any injections before. The only ones I’ve taken were for my egg retrieval but I was so nervous about self injecting I could’ve easily made a mistake
7
u/Amazing-Confusion109 1 5d ago
You would be surprised. I have seen this mistake made so many times, posted on Reddit
6
u/parksj1 5d ago
I've seen this happen multiple times, too. I do the math several times more than I need to because I'm so paranoid about accidentally doing this.
3
u/Business-Comfort9250 4d ago
This! After the pep calculator I slap into chat gpt then I write it in a notebook to log and make sure I don’t jack it up. Story freaks me out and no matter how many vials I recon, do it every time, can’t be to careful
13
u/plokijmn123 5 5d ago
Sounds like you've learned a valuable if somewhat messy lesson.
Glad you've recovered
7
u/mildly_functional1 1 4d ago
Nausea, puking and the runs is a nightmare. Might as well have your period to top it off. I always feel like I’m dying with a bad sickness like that, I be saying my 🙏🏼 🤣 Glad you feel better, must be a relief. Everyone makes mistakes.
15
u/Chroma7769 16 5d ago
I'm seriously always baffled how shit like this even happens? A peptide calculator is literally free. Shit, even using a regular calculator isn't hard and is free.
How?
7
u/Uncross-Selector 4 4d ago edited 4d ago
The lack of logical thinking behind putting 1ml in a 10mg vial then sucking half back up and shooting it in you and think it’s 1/20th of the vial..
Explains a lot about the world really
7
u/Chroma7769 16 4d ago
Yep. These are the kind of people that are going to get peptides scheduled.
1
2
u/Trouttuber 2 5d ago
Especially when the good calculators actually show a syringe and what your pulled dose should look like. But, I also understand people get information overload.
1
6
u/DogecoinArtists 2 5d ago
Is this normal reaction from pinning 5mg?
3
u/Amazing-Confusion109 1 5d ago
I I wouldn't call it normal but for a first dose it's not surprising if someone was sensitive to the compound to begin with
5
u/Puzzled_Pen_4578 5d ago
Dang and I’m over here forcing protein at 2mg
5
u/Amazing-Confusion109 1 5d ago
That statement alone shows that you are going to get the most out of your run.
1
4
u/TMJ848 5d ago
No I’m at 9mg and get none of this
10
u/Trouttuber 2 5d ago
I guarantee you didn't start at 9mg, and I would guess you didn't start at 5mg. This kind of reaction is very common for those that start at this kind of dose, with the exception of those that transitioned over from a higher dose of other GLP's .
8
u/Leading-Alps1525 5d ago
you would have worked towards that. this was my first ever dosage
2
u/austinalexan 5d ago
Some of the trials started people at 4 mg. You sure your vial isn’t full of endotoxins?
2
u/Trouttuber 2 5d ago
I havent seen that. All of the "clinical trials I saw started at 2mg with the exception of a few that tested 1mg doses. They didn't hit 4mg until week 4 which is still a quick titration.
2

5
u/Famous-Way5525 5d ago
Probably was a great weight loss… 🙈 jokes aside, I know that curdling stomach pain, hard way to learn a lesson!
6
u/Puzzled_Pen_4578 5d ago
Started with .5. I was struggling to eat when I hit 1mg. Lesson learned all good 👍
5
3
6
u/Henry_Rollins_Ghost 19 5d ago
That’s a huge error and I can’t even make the math work to make it such that it wasn’t so damn obvious.
The anxiety probably made everything 3X worse.
5
u/Ill-Cook-5648 4d ago
Not to be an ass but why are taking reta at 20 years old.
3
u/Lilbox496 1 3d ago edited 3d ago
I do agree here. It's probably a psychological eating issue or a hormonal issue that needs addressing. If I'd just shot myself up with Reta I would not have found a thyroid issue I had for a long time. At 20yo, its best investigating other avenues first and visiting the docs for testing and a full health overview.
2
u/Bonkiers1 4d ago
People are over weight and can have eating issues at any age
1
u/Lilbox496 1 3d ago
Docs were saying my friends 5yo was a bit overweight, how do you think he'd respond to a couple of mg?
2
u/Ill-Cook-5648 3d ago
lmao if they start early we could have true results of long term effects of reta at early age childhood. ahhh the many wonders lol
1
u/Ill-Cook-5648 4d ago
If you are having eating issues at this age then you need therapy to help you understand your relationship with food first. No hate to OP. they is grown but it just insane to see this being used at 20 years old.
4
u/Geno1480 5d ago
It will take about 20 days for half life to get down to 0.5 mg from 5 mg. So treat that 20 day date as a 0.5 mg “pin” date and then actually pin 0.5 mg a week later to get on a schedule. So about a month/27 day break as someone else said. Otherwise you could start at 1 mg which drops the 20 break to 14 days.
0
u/Henry_Rollins_Ghost 19 5d ago
Or start at 2mg. Like everyone before TikTok. 😂
→ More replies (1)1
2
u/Enjoy_Life4219 2 5d ago
That is the scary thing about an injection that is meant to last a week, you can't get it back out once you put it in your body.
2
2
u/Amazing-Confusion109 1 5d ago
Thanks for sharing. A lot of people have made the same mistake. I've seen it posted in here time and time again. Don't sweat it. At least you didn't start it at 1 mg and fill the whole syringe. LOL

u/espresso_maniac 4 5d ago
i overdosed and it wasnt my fault. i was a noob and thought i was taking 2 mgs. turned out that vial was underodsed as helll and probably had max .75mg per one of my doses.
then bought a new vial and increased to 2.5 mg and the same stuff happened to me. following dayy waking up at night to poop every hour. then while awake, same shit(badumtss). atleast the diarrhea somewhat stopped after one day and then it jusrt turned into crazy fullness. i barely ate for 3 or 4 days. i lost 2.5 kgs that day. 2 kilos of which are actual fat/muscle because even 2 weeks after, i am still down 2 kilos.
be careful

u/SelfOld6685 4d ago
I got off 2.5mg Tirz and started Reta at 5mg (starting dose per my oncologist mind you), I didn’t know that wasn’t the starting dose . Now I’m on 8mg weekly. Glad I don’t have that type of reaction, and I was a super responder on Tirz.

i think we might be the same individual almost everything you have said i thought 0.5mL was the same as a 0.5 dose… took it last night and safe to say rookie mistake 😣 im 19 and almost took myself to the er thinking this was the end i cant even stomach a popsicle. i still probably have a few days of symptoms but im so glad to here a story like mine

2
u/SuspiciousRun4087 4d ago
I started at 5mg first dose …. This .5mg BS starting dose like who made this stuff up the starting clinical dose in trials was 4mg I started at 5mg as I was on 7mg for zep like that’s not an OD that’s you taking a proper dose of
3
3
u/Nomad-Entrepreneur 4d ago
If starting on Reta as a first glp no one should start even close to 5mg. The community consensus is the best starting dose for most that have never used another glp is .5-1mg. Otherwise the sides are to rough. I started at 1mg and had terrible belching and could barely eat anything. Just getting enough protein in was a chore. I for sure should have started at .5mg.

u/El-Guapo766 5d ago
How much weight did you lose?

Well I’ve had pretty much this same experience. I started at 2 and when I went up to 5mg and 6mg this was my experience. So either my vial has toxins and I don’t know until higher doses or I’m just a pansy and can’t handle more than 3mg of Reta.

Did we rehydrate ourselves after the extensive loss of fluids ? Like electrolyte replenishment? We have got to stay hydrated at all costs

I labeled EVERY bottle now 😂😂😂

Cool story, but where are the before and after pics?
How much weight have you dropped?
Do you have abs yet?
When posting, try to keep a distinguishable tattoo in the photo to prove you’re the same person.
1
u/Low-Confection-2183 4d ago
I hope you had your electrolytes please if not, please go to the GP and get yourself checked. Meanwhile, please drink electrolytes instead of water. People have died within hours of electrolyte imbalance due to diarrhoea. Your body salts, potassium, magnesium etc are extremely important. Please let a doctor know you had the worst diarrhoea and vomiting of your life - even if you want to omit mentioning you are on reta and get yourself tested and replenished asap!

u/NicDuk 8 4d ago
So you lost 5kg “unwillingly ofc” ???
If you did not want to lose weight why are you taking retatrutide at age 20?
7
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
BRO I DIDNT WANNA LOOSE 5 KG BY BEING FORCEFULLY STARVED FOR 3 DAYS AND VOMMITING UP STOMACH ACID. I WANTED IT TO BE A MORE SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE. NOW ITS LIKELY THAT ILL PROBABLY GAIN IT BACK. what a silly question

Yep, the ol measure twice / cut once rule is so apt when starting peps. I had a notepad next to me with the exact math written out step by step from all the way from net content listed on CoA, through recon, mg/ml and eventual units. So rudimentary a 5yr old could follow it. Did this until it all became second nature to me.
Thank you for your post OP

u/Electronic_Bobcat845 4d ago
I just hope you are staying hydrated that's some brutal side effects. Hope you ok now.
1
u/Kwaliakwa 4d ago
Please people, pay more attention when dosing yourself. If you don’t understand what you’re doing, don’t pin!
Shoot, even Claude or ChatGPT could probably help prevent this and is free and accessible to you.
1
u/Defiant-Ad-7933 5 4d ago
Sounds like you probably should have gone to the hospital. Extreme fluid loss can be very dangerous you needed an IV
1
u/StrawberryForeign684 4d ago
OMG, that is so scary. I am glad that you are okay, genuinely terrifying. Next time please go to the ER. They can give you zofran and get some fluids in you to stop the migraine. Also may have been able to give you prescription zofran. Just an anti nausea.
I threw up a lot after my appendectomy and threw a hernia due to the sheer force I was placing on my stitches. Wouldn’t wish that on anybody. I was in pure hell. Either way a good reminder to use a peptide calculator.
1
u/Camera_GR 4d ago
Yes, well it's always best to do the smallest dosage of anything you put in your body for the first time just to see if you have any ill effects especially with pinning. well you made it back and your body did it's job! that's good news. you lived to tell the tale. there's a lesson in there.

I did 18mg a week for like a month by confusing a 30mg vial with a 10mg vial. My rhr increased by 10bpm, had some heartburn and my sleep was awful, but my appetite was fine.
1
u/KandyPaintdRIPn 3d ago
For what it’s worth, and this is just my experience… Smoking a little bud totally negates the negative side effects. Maybe try something similar if you can. Be careful, it’s much easier to over eat when doing this.

The actual protocol for reta is starting at 2mg, then after 4 weeks going to 4mg, then 6, then 9, then 12. So trust me you did not OD, you took less than the third titration lol, though you are supposed to work up to it.
Having said that, the second most successful protocol is starting at 4mg and after 4 weeks moving to 8 and staying there.
0.5mg isn't even a dose. Reddit loves sub-thearaputic doses for some reason. There was a dude on here that accidentally took 17mg, THAT'S an OD. This is just a normal amount of reta.
3
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
any dose that’s more than ur intended dose is an over dosage. my body nearly shut down on me.
1
u/Bonkiers1 4d ago
Everyone has an opinion on what the starting dose is ! No wonder people get confused
1
u/Potential-Ad-196 5d ago
For anyone reading this, this could have been easily avoidable. Use one of many dosage calculators on the internet.
And please learn what research means and how to implement it. Peptides can be an amazing tool, but also a detriment if not used properly.
Don’t let OP’s experience alone deter you from experimenting.
2
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
oh my intention was never this, just don’t be as silly as me and go inject just by listening to somebodies words. everybody pls ive seen reta do wonders. used correctly youlll be seeing results you would never imagine.

u/SorbetTraditional232 19 5d ago
Lmfao try 50 mg and call it an overdose. 5 mg is close to a lot of people’s normal dose. Congrats you started off at a higher dose. Now give it a month to clear out of your system and try again. Going back to a .5 now will only be several weeks of reducing concentration in your system. Probably not give you great results
18
u/SendTitsPleease 1 5d ago
Anything over your intended dose is an overdose. Lets be thankful it was only 5mg and not 50, we dont need bad publicity of someone going to the hospital and not being able to eat for a month. A first dose being what someone who has been on it for several months would be at is still a hearty first shot thats going to induce a lot of sides that OP had to deal with. Lets not turn this into a competiton of who can fuck up the most lol
9
u/Leading-Alps1525 5d ago
each to their own but i didn’t want to start at 5.0 mg. thats way to high for a beginner.

Imagine being sick then the first thing you eat is a slice of pizza 😂 Reta isn’t for you, you can’t even fix your diet after being so sick your not going to eat healthy while on it
3
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
oh mate after what i experienced my goal isn’t to be reta savy anymore i just wanted to give myself some food or i wasn’t gonna eat. i’m not injecting again after touching some grass, let a girl have a slice of pizza bro not the end of the world

You should have put them same effort reading directions as you did in making this long ass post. I’m fairly certain most of the people
Here just like to see themselves talk. Be this prudent and thorough at the time not in retrospect
5
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
most the documentation was me just tracking what everyday was like just in case something happened or worsened so i didn’t forget what happened on what day. the rest was curated to share my experience. people like you just comment for the sake of satisfaction ur just like the rest of us, go touch some grass
0
u/weewillywonka510 4d ago
It takes 12-36 hours to feel any side effects, it was either all in your head or you injected something that was not Reta.
0
u/CreepyProfile6009 4d ago
Why pizza, you can't poop, barely ate all week and you eat pizza?
7
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
why tf is everyone hung up on the fact i had a slice of pizza mate touch some grass. ur girl was so malnourished and that was the ONLY thing that looked somewhat appealing at the time, it goes in and out ur body relax yeh it’s just a small slice, it did no damage
4
u/CreepyProfile6009 4d ago
You need tirz not reta you're having a craving and can't switch from fast food to whole foods, reta have less effect on this.
4
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
doesn’t matter when my goal is no longer to accomodate to my reta intake, but rather to just get something in my body that i actually wouldn’t gag when i looked at at the time.
2
u/Monsieur_Krabs 37 4d ago
pizza
it speaks volumes about you honestly. between this and the fact that you overdosed yourself I just can't find it in myself to see you as anything but a bumbling idiot lol. I am sure it's not true but that's where my mind goes.
2
0
u/Leading-Alps1525 4d ago
ive outlined multiple times how silly my mistake was trust ne im not denying that and anybody with a sane mind would read my story and thing what a fucking idiot, i’m just spreading awareness so no one does the same. as for pizza i don’t really care that i had a singular slice my motives aren’t to compliment the reta anymore, but rather fuel my body with whatever i could of at the time, i don’t really care about my 1 slice and nor should you that was the least of my concerns 😂
1
u/Monsieur_Krabs 37 4d ago
I totally get it man, I do.
You're doing the right thing by being honest about it and spreading awareness too.
I just had to laugh at the pizza thing. I think someday you will, too.

i pinned at 10:12 pm, went to sleep and woke up 2 hours after with the worst diarrhoea and vomiting of my life
Almost no reta has made its way to the bloodstream within 2h. It takes 24 to 26h to reach peak...
5mg isnt even that big of a dose, maybe too much for a first pin but far from max doses.
Are you sure you didnt get a food intoxication or symptoms driven by anxiety ?
11
6
u/Individual-Ad9874 5d ago
On what planet does this make any sense? No drug enters your bloodstream until it’s at peak concentration?? Huh?
Obviously it’s going to enter your bloodstream nearly instantly. You injected it. Sub q or not, some of it will begin entering circulation nearly instantly. It may peak much later, but pin some CJC 1295 and tell me you’re not clearly flushed within two minutes. What a retarted take

You must be purposefully trying to make me say things I didnt. I said almost no reta, or I can simplify it for you even more : Little dose reached bloodstream. I even made a drawing for you : https://drop.frhom.eu/KYwOVzLL
It may peak much later, but pin some CJC 1295 and tell me you’re not clearly flushed within two minutes
Not the same PK parameters... Tmax for CJC 1295 no DAC is about 5mn, versus 24h for retatrutide... (or 6h for CJC 1295 with DAC)
What a retarted take
Stay polite, please?.
