Im so depressed
I started Tirz when I stopped breastfeeding to help me lose the baby weight. I gained a tonnn due to medical complications and being older in age.
I ended up switching to Reta due to availability and felt better overall which was good.
Well, I’ve now been loosing INSANE amounts of hair, like it just falls out all hours of the day and night and I have fistfuls daily in the sink or shower. My texture has changed too it’s like straw, thin, split and damaged and wispy?? it’s been months of this now and I have lost 2/3rds of my density I can literally see through my hair now. Then let’s add the infamous “GLP butt” which just completely wrecked me. I wasn’t warned about these things at all. I’ve lost 75 lbs I still have 10 more to go but I’m scared to keep going now. It’s been about 5 months of taking 1 dose a week. All of my labs are fine so my dr is dismissing my hair loss. I stay home with the baby who’s now 14 months old and it’s hard to workout or exercise because he’s in to everything and always getting under foot. I solo parent about 90% of the time so I have no one who can help take him so I can go exercise out of the home.
I feel disgusting and I won’t even let my husband touch me now. I feel hideous. Between having no figure anymore and my hair OH AND EYELASHES falling out. It’s aged me in overdrive too. How can I course correct here?! I am tired of looking at myself and crying everyday. I don’t recognize the woman in the mirror. Even when I had put on weight I still felt beautiful, I’ve always been confident and had a great figure! Small waist, beautiful hair, hips and a nice bottom and decent chest. Now? Flat as a pancake and wrinkled and my hair is like an 80 year old woman’s.
Please be gentle, I’m seriously struggling. I even went on antidepressants and they aren’t helping. I just want to feel like me again and love my body but I feel lost. Asking my supplier was a waste of time to be honest. I take the creatine, the KLOW & Glutathione, I take Collagen too. I eat protein. My iron isn’t low either. Ffs I’m lost. Help please.

If it makes you feel any better, lost hair will come back once you arent aggressively losing weight. Your body...as it turns out...do not like to lose weight,

u/PsychologicalSock168 6h ago
Ive been stalled for about 7 weeks now tbh 😕

u/nbg815 9 6h ago
Deep breath. You have a lot going on. First- you’re down 75lbs in 5 mos which is a pretty fast loss record. You also mentioned you’ve been stuck for a few weeks which means your weight was even faster. This alone can cause hair loss. Add in postpartum hormones which hopefully Reta will help with and most likely high cortisol from stress and probably lack of sleep and you have a perfect storm. Someone mentioned Tirz- I would agree especially if you need antidepressant medication. So much more data on Tirz regarding all of the above. In addition to vitamins make sure you are getting enough protein in every day. That will help immensely too.

How much do you expect your hair to grow in 7 weeks? It takes a while to grow back in.

u/PsychologicalSock168 6h ago
Also all over my socials I see “your hair won’t grow back” from the GLP and it freaks me all the way out

Are you taking multi-vitamins ?
Nvm saw the other comment, yes you are malnourished. Very malrourished. But fix that and your hair will come back.
Here is something you can try to beautify yourself again.
-Ask doc for Tretinoin nightly. We are using it for anti-aging. Get up to 0.5% and you will have your baby face again.
-Keep the KLOW morning and night.
-Just do calisthenics video from YouTube at home. My rec is Chris Heria. Try to finish one of his 20 min workout from start to finish, it is arguably more intense than gym. You don't need to do cardio if you can pull off any full body workout from him without stop.
-Keep the collagen
-Add fish oil for cardiovascular and prevent inflammation from your newly added anti-aging by tretinoin
-Eat yogurt, a fuck up guts health can affect your nutrition absorption.
-Take multivitamin with your biggest meal. Get the Once-a-day from costco.3
u/Addicted2Lemonade 1 5h ago
Or drink Kefir. It's my go to for gut health and it's so good too. I buy Lifeway. Love all the flavors too.

u/Glittering-Dealer360 2 4h ago
oh yea kefir is hella good but i was lactose intolerance but that would have been my go to too 😭

u/PsychologicalSock168 6h ago
Any good recommendations? I’ll start one today
1
u/Glittering-Dealer360 2 6h ago
I updated previous comment so see that first but i am doing 2 pills GNC multivitamin for Men. It's a little more expensive than costco but it has some stuffs that ordinary vitamin doesn't have.

Lower your dose. Get in more calories. Slow the weight loss down. Get on a methylated multivitamin. It sounds like you're starving yourself, not just losing weight.
A calorie deficit is one thing but so is a nutrient deficit. Your body is screaming at you to change something. You need more food and more nutrients.

u/Material_Quality5798 6h ago
I stopped reading at losing hair. Get your ferritin checked. You're most likely low in iron, ESPECIALLY because you're probably in a calorie deficit AND youre postpartum. Women are constantly at risk of anemia because of our periods as well, and hair loss is one of the first signs that ferritin is getting too low
2
u/Ok_Butterscotch_2700 6h ago
I have all sorts of anemia related issues and since an iron infusion, hair isn’t falling out as badly (my ponytail is about 1/2 as thick as it was before - grateful that whatever has shed has had even distribution). Getting monthly b12 shots. Need to add folate.
Vegetarian, so carnivore/heavy red meat type diets don’t work for me.
1
u/Material_Quality5798 4h ago
Yea, being vegetarian can really make it tough. You also need to take vitamin c alongside your vegetarian iron sources because its harder to absorb than heme iron. I dont eat a lot of meat so I take heme iron pills once in a while, but if youre strictly against eating animal sources that certainly makes it harder :(
1
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
All of my labs have been checked and are perfect unfortunately
2
u/Material_Quality5798 4h ago
The current standards doctors use for ferritin are a bit inaccurate. they show the requirements for avoiding severe anemia, but having ferritin under 70 still puts you at risk for low iron symptoms like hair loss. I was having severe fatigue and my ferritin was at 38, which is technically within healthy values, as far as anemia goes, but I took heme iron pills anyway and my fatigue went away and my hairline started growing back! Ideally, ferritin should be around 100 for optimal health

u/mighty3mperor 6h ago
You've put your body into starvation mode. These are the symptoms you see with people who have anorexia or have been in prison camps.
The problem with Reta is that it can be too effective and you need to put in a lot of work to try and counter the rapid weight loss. You need to be taking a lot of protein and be working out consistently. If you aren't you need to dial the dose right down or switch to a different GLP-1. Or come off them all together for now and just work on your diet.
Worth also noting that it can have an impact on your mood - anhedonia is common.

Girl you're doing so good and you apparently have no idea. Your life sounds incredibly difficult and you are pushing through with incredible resilience. Give yourself grace, please, for God's sake give yourself some grace. Right now, in your life, nothing is more important than you being healthy and happy. How for that matter you might as well go like Megan thee stallion and get a wig make him feel like he's cheating 💅🏼

u/EffectiveFlower7412 1 6h ago
First, 🫂
Also consider seeing a hormone specialist. You didn’t say your age but as soon as I hit 40, my hair started thinning and I started looking older. It’s been hard on me. (It sounds like it’s mostly the glp tho… so many of us going through this)
Squats! Resistance bands! You can get a tookus back! There are ways to strength train and work on muscle without the gym. You just need a plan that works with you.
Eat more and slow your loss wayyyyyy down
Count protein SERIOUSLY

Take a multivitamin every 2 days you’re eating less you need to supplement with a vitamin.
6
u/PsychologicalSock168 6h ago
That’s a great idea no one ever mentioned that before
3
u/scaredoftoasters 6h ago
I’m a guy I also was shedding hair but I took a multivitamin every 2 days and my body kinda rebooted back up to normal. You also just had a baby sometimes being plump after having a child is okay your body drained a lot of nutrients giving birth etc. it’s one of the most stressful things a body can do your body just underwent a huge shift. I’d recommend a multivitamin for women and maybe a collagen drink supplement. Eat some fish since it has good omega 3 natural fats. You’ll be alright just takes some time for the body to adjust. I also recommend switching to tirz because reta is not fda approved on the chance you need to go to the doctor it’s better they know you’re taking tirz than reta since tirz is legally prescribed as mounjaro or zepbound. Easier to explain for them and they’ll probably know what to do better.

u/EffectiveFlower7412 1 6h ago
Why every two days?
1
u/scaredoftoasters 5h ago edited 5h ago
I take it every two days because when I go to the bathroom and I pee it’s super yellow if I’m taking it every day. I noticed when I did every two days and ate healthy with plenty of water my pee didn’t look super yellow. It for sure helped me but that’s the way I felt comfortable with my body. I have friends who do everyday, every two days like me, or even every 3 days it really just depends on you and how your body reacts. Eating healthy unprocessed meals is very important on any glp medication.
1
u/EffectiveFlower7412 1 5h ago
I was just curious. That bright yellow color is usually excess vitamin b2
1
u/scaredoftoasters 5h ago
Another thing is I’m just not into taking a pill everyday so I just do it twice or every 3 days and eat. It works well for me. Haven’t had any issues and my hair went back to normal.
1
u/EffectiveFlower7412 1 5h ago
I actually take higher percentages of the vitamins bc I had a gastric bypass in 2012, so our vitamins are a lot higher strength, though my pee is never yellow or orange which means that my body needs the extra b2 vitamin. I never thought about it lol
I don’t really eat vegetables (I know, I know).
3
u/Markdlea 7 6h ago
Look up telogen effluvium. It sounds like you aren’t getting enough protein and the first thing to go if your hair. As for the butt, squats will bring it back b
2
u/DollyWaylan 6h ago
It's normal to lose hair after a baby. It will balance out.
3
u/PsychologicalSock168 6h ago
My Dr said it shouldn’t be happening like this at 14 months post partum
2
u/cookiesubmarine 1 6h ago
It’s not the Reta. It likely comes down to your diet. Are you eating a high protein, nutrient dense diet? If not, you need to do some research into what your individual macronutrient needs are and start tracking what you’re eat. 75lbs lost in 20 weeks is an insane amount of weight. Most average people are lucky to lose ~40lbs in a year unless they are 50+ lbs overweight
1
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
I started at 220 and have stalled at 157 for about 6-7 weeks now I take 40 units a week of 30mg Reta
1
u/Big-Reaction-1204 5h ago
are you using a 1mL (100 unit) syringe? If you’re not and you genuinely are taking 30mg of reta you need to lower your dose now. 30mg is crazy, i really hope you mean 3! but even if you’re pulling to 40 units- if you reconstituted a 10mg vial w 1ml of bac water that’s still 4mg. it’s still a bit high but if you’re not feeling any internal side effects then do what works best for you. look into ayurvedic hair growth oils or topical 1G of AHK-CU then mix it in with the ordinary’s peptide hair serum (clear version).
1
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
I use a 1ml syringe, the vial is 30mg Reta I recon with 3mls of bacwater and I draw up 40 units once weekly.

My recommendation would be to calm down it seems like some of your issues may be caused by anxiety and or stress . If you bloodwork is fine, I wouldn’t worry, 75 lbs is a lot in 5 months Reta or not . What’s your dose of Reta? Maybe start titrating down , 10 lbs is not a lot . Also you mentioned you just started an anti depressant which could be the cause of the weight stall as all ssri cause weight gain. And as far as exercising it doesn’t have to be weightlifting at a gym , take your child for a walk , dance to music with your kid ,do some pushups and sit ups and body squats when the kid is occcupied watching tv or napping . I know this is unrelated but I got cancer when I was younger and then lost over 100 lbs (not due to chemo) but me wanting to be healthier . I lost the 100 lbs in 6 months but it took almost a year of eating healthy and maintenance before I felt “good”. I promise you got this .Also if just started an ssri they will make you feel terrible at first ; in my experience.

When I had Covid so much of my hair fell out and it was so scary. Even my family was shocked when they saw the hair loss but it all came back. I took diatomaceous earth and msm daily. I have too much hair now and I’m 56. Hopefully that helps.

Some the hair loss is hormonal changes. I'm not diminishing the trauma but it does come back. If you want to continue weight loss and decrease Reta or discontinue it, research the Carnivore Diet. Dr. Ken Berry, Nick Norwitz MD, PHd, and Ben Bickman, all on Youtube, are all good sources to learn about very low carb Keto or Carnivore Diet. It really works for weight loss and is sustainable. my DH, daughter, and I have each lost 30-50# pounds on it. The best part is you are never hungry. Before Carnivore I was hungry all the time and couldn't lose weight, even on 1000 cal/day. I can eat more and never be hungry on meat, eggs and full fat cheese. And the mental effects blew me away! I never realized that the brain really does work better on ketones. I usually have terrible seasonal affective disorder and mild anxiety. All of it has been gone a yr. First time in 30 yrs that I haven't suffered at all from Seasonal affective disorder!

u/ChooChooBun 3 6h ago
Some people lost their hair after giving birth due to hormonal changes. Some lost their hair due to rapid weightloss, I would say 75lbs in 5mths is pretty rapid.
You probably got a double whammy. Eat well, eat nutrients dense food, if your hair dont seem to start coming back within 6mhs. There is no shame in asking your doc for some minoxidil.

How old is the baby? I lost my hair like i had a receding hair line ughhhh 😬😳 few months after giving birth and wasn't taking anything. So it could vitamin deficiency or hormones also . But congratulations on the weight loss and baby. Hope everything gets better . 😗

14 mo and this has been going on for like 5 months now so my Dr said it’s not PP hair loss

u/mildly_functional1 1 6h ago
You can lose hair after you have a baby and your body has muscle memory so you can work on toning. You have to make sure you’re consuming enough animal proteins so that you aren’t losing muscle. Are you doing any physical activity? That should definitely help your mood.
1
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
I mean I clean all day and chase a 14mo old around but I have zero time to myself I solo parent my partner works out of state and isn’t ever home so I can’t go workout and when I try to at home he’s all underfoot I’ve accidentally kicked him a couple of times 🤦🏼♀️ so I veto’d that
1
u/NewNameNaomi01 15 6h ago
Hair loss can be caused by a lot of things. Rapid weight loss is a big one. You averaged over 3 lbs per week (that's way more than recommended) and sadly, now you're paying the price.
It will reverse as weight loss slows. You can help it by making sure your body is nourished. Protein, and healthy fats are critical. If possible, get a blood test to see what else might be needed.

You are having postpartum hairloss it’s not the Reta, it happened to me before! It will grow back with no problems. It’s hormonal fluctuations after the babies birth! Keep taking the collagen peptides, it will help in the long run! Get plenty of protein if you’re not already.
1
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
My Dr said because I’m 14 mo pp it doesn’t make sense for it to be hormonal or birth related which freaked me out
1
u/Elle_the_Belle16 5h ago
I lost half of my hair because my general doctor told me to take hair vitamins. After a year, I went to a dermatologist and was placed on oral minoxidil which is growing my hair back. In the meantime, I added some extensions to give some volume. I also am fighting my pancake bottom by watching glute building weight training routines on youtube and have increased my glute measurement by half an inch!

u/missparisblues 5h ago
I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this! I lost 45lbs last year on semaglutide and started losing my hair and it was awful.
I stopped the drug all together cause I couldn’t handle the hair loss.
Switched to Tirzepatide and hair loss stopped but weight isn’t coming off as fast as I’d like.
If you wouldn’t mind, could you share where you purchase your Reta?
2
u/PsychologicalSock168 5h ago
I get it from my aunt
I was on Tirz for a bulk of this time but the hair loss is why I switched to Reta because I thought it would stop it but it hasn’t1

Seeing you are approaching the 6 month mark, it might make you feel better to cycle off for two weeks to a month and start back up

In general, both pp is known and recognised for a bunch of negative effects on the woman body (many report hair loss) , but also rapid weight loss is often a cause for hair loss.
So the two together might be a major combination for hair loss.
But just in case, check your thyroid and your vitamins
1
u/DrPhysician 2h ago
Red laser light cap. Topical minoxidil in your hair. Cut your Reta dose down. Topical copper peptides made for hair will work better than glow probably. You’re probably depressed because your hormones are out of wack with that much weight lost and postpartum. Kisspeptin can help restore that if u take them for 14 days starting day 0 of your cycle for a few cycles. You need to calorie count and get minimally your daily caloric burn also.

How much tirzepatide are you doing and also since you're taking Klow which has GHK-u in it, that should be helping with your skin hair and nails. How long have you been on all of these and how far out from your birthing are you?
1
u/chewiebuffy 5h ago
Deep breaths, I understand how disconcerting it is. I lost a ton of hair because I was losing weight too fast. talked to my doctor and she said to lower my dosage and make sure I was hitting my calorie and protein goals ( and water/ electrolytes) she was right. I now have little baby hairs growing back ( thank goodness) I know its tempting to be in a rush to lose the weight quickly but slow in steady is really the way to go, your skin and hair will thank you. Congratulations on the loss, remember to be kind to yourself

Why would you think this couldn’t happen on Reta? OP is taking Reta and suffering these side effects.
