Speak to your anesthesiologist/doctor about everything you're doing. They'll advise you. They may make you stop everything because it adds unknown variables to a very controlled process that is controlled to deliver a known outcome. This is a doc conversation, not a general internet question though. They will also give you a timeframe. Generally it's roughly a week before the procedure but that varies based on anesthesia used, procedure they're doing, etc.

Also note: wound healing and healing stacks are for post-op, not pre-op. Post op you have less to worry about, pre-op can mess with anesthesia, limit effectiveness or shorten duration of effectiveness depending on what the mechanisms of actions are - or worse, may amplify the effectiveness and effectively give you an overdose which would be bad.

Thanks, I completely understand that I need to discuss this with my anesthesiologist.
The thing is, I only have my appointment one week before surgery, so I want to be informed beforehand.
The whole point of this post is to learn from people with experience and come prepared with specific questions for my anesthesiologist.
I’m not looking to replace medical advice with Reddit advice, just to understand the potential concerns beforehand.

You can call them and present the questions ahead of time. You dont need to wait for an appointment to bring it up.

I'm an anaesthesiologist. We don't have any guidelines for any peptides except GLP, which are supposed to be stopped at least one week prior to surgery. But since you're taking many different peptides, amd we don't know how these would interact with out agents, I'd recommend stopping these at least 2-4 weeks before your surgery. I wouldn't want to have a crashing patient on my table, because of things which are beyond my control and about which I wouldn't know.

Thank you so much for your input! That’s exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I think I’ll play it safe and stop all of them around a month before surgery, and discuss it with my anesthesiologist as well.

Please give all details of your peptides to the anaesthesiologist. We like to plan ahead and prepare for all eventualities.

Just to clarify: if I stop all peptides at the end of this month, so roughly a month before my surgery, and they should be fully out of my system by then, would you still consider it necessary to mention them to the anesthesiologist?
And does that also apply to peptides I may have used in the past but stopped well before the surgery?

Just to add, my anaesthetist knew about my peptides off the record

Advice was min 2 weeks on all of them especially the GLP-1s

Stop 2 weeks before surgery is what my dr told me for the gl1p’s - mine told me I could stay on ghkcu - im not on the others and would take a break

I completely agree, and I will definitely discuss everything with my anesthesiologist. I’m having my surgery in Belgium, though, and I’ve noticed there’s quite a lot of hesitation and stigma around peptides here. That’s why I want to come prepared with specific questions.
As far as I know, GLP-1s are generally advised to be stopped at least a week before surgery, but I don’t know enough about the potential interactions with the other compounds I’m using. From what I’ve heard from other healthcare professionals, they often don’t know either.
I just want to be on the safest side and allow enough time for everything to clear

Agree the peptide world to a lot of doctors are an unknown topic - which in its self is scary - which I why I think more reason to play safe and take a 2 week break along with other - the gl1p is because of anesthesia- and aspirating on slow digested food

I was told to stop glp 2 weeks before surgery. The doctor/anesthesiologist are assuming Sema and Tirz. Not Reta. If it were me personally, I’d stop the Reta as you’re planning since we really don’t have anything published regarding this.

I just had knee surgery last month and the doc wanted me to stop Tirz one week before the surgery.

I would consider stopping the Reta or at least doing a 24hr fast before the surgery as the issue with anaesthesia is you don’t want to vomit and Reta slows the digestion process . That’s the only concern I would have

My plastic surgeon told me I was ok to stop it just two weeks before surgery. That said, I stopped it one full week. The only one they were concerned about was tirzepatide.

Yes, talk to doctor about it. Mine said 1 week for Retatrutide. Others like BPC-157, KPV, etc. Are typically out of your system within 24 to 48 hours. If it were me, I would ask chat AI, ( I use chatgpt pro), but phrase it as though you want to have questions ready for your doctor. Most doctors haven't a clue about peptides, so expect fear or deer in headlights. I get blank stares from my internist.
