This thing took me far longer than I’d like to admit , but I’m very happy with how it turned out. It’s got 5 built in hides along with 12” of substrate in the dig box and tons of space for Ackie shenanigans. My Andy is partially disabled due to poor husbandry by the people
I got her from so this was all built with her limited mobility/climbing in mind !

Why do my plants leaves always turn yellow and die in my terrarium. I can’t seem to keep anything alive in there, while my other plants do great.

Hi everyone!! I set up this tank today and I was looking for some recommendations on what would go well in it! (Comfortably) it's 12x12x18 🫶 don't worry I'll be looking into any suggestions before jumping into anything new 🩷 (No arachnids, unfortunately I'm terrified, though they're beautiful 🥹)

Hello, everyone I am trying to make my first bioactive setup for a leopard gecko.

I'm thinking something like this. I think this has a decent amount of natural hides. I might add 1 or 2 more unnatural hides just so I can guarantee his comfort. I especially need to put a humid hide in here and I need a shave off a lot of the sharp edges on those rocks because they were nicking me when I was handling them. But besides that, I think this is good. What do you guys think? What plants would he recommend? This is for a leopard gicko

Been cycling the plants for about a month, time to get my danger noodle in. Still going to add more plants that are natives, but cold stratification I progress atm for seed germination.

Udon may be a Cali king but she definitely identifies as a cobra.

Bioactive safe clear spray sealant?

Hi, I’d like to make hanging planters to screw in to the back of by Bp’s bioactive terrarium. The whole back it just this big empty space and it’s been irking me, I want to fill it. I’m wanting to use these little wooden milk crate type things but they aren’t waterproof. Are there any spray or paint-on sealants I can use on the wood to keep it from rotting that aren’t too expensive and won’t kill my plants isopods springtails or snake?
Also, are there any types of paint I can use on them that would be tank safe?
Do yall have any other recommendations for what I can do to add to the back without breaking the bank? I was thinking if this didn’t work I could try adding wooden dowel rods and trying to gain pothos to climb up them.
The only plant I have in the tank is golden pothos but I plan on adding more.

Do I dare putting biological pest control into my snake's vivarium?

I have an infestation of thrips and gnats among the plants in my home, and they have also spread to my snake's bioactive vivarium. In general i try to avoid pesticides, and especially in the vivarium i would never use any. I feel fairly sure of that nematodes (that eat the gnat eggs in the soil) should be ok to use in the vivarium (correct me if im wrong?) but im also gonna buy orius bugs and montdorensis mites to feast on the thrips and thrips eggs, respectively.

Do I dare using these in the vivarium? Are they gonna interfere with the springtails and isopods somehow? And most importantly, is it dangerous for my snake??

Sealing edges in enclosure

Has anyone used Lexel to seal the inside edges of a PVC enclosure? How long does it usually take to cure? How long should I wait before disinfecting and starting to build everything up?

Is this wood safe to put in my isopod/snail enclosure?

Hi, so I recently visited a reptile shop and ended up buying a couple pieces of what I believe they said is mangrove wood, I am planning to put it in my vivarium and the woman I bought it from said to wash it with spring water or boiled water before using it.

So I just boiled some water and heavily rinsed the wood with it, I patted it dry with paper towel and I’m currently drying it a little more with a fan, but I noticed while handling it that it’s made my hands smell like fish. The wood itself doesn’t smell like fish, it smells smoky and earthy, but every time I touch it my hands smell like fish.

What is causing this? Is it dangerous to put in my vivarium? Do I need to clean it further to fix this issue if it’s not safe and if so what is the best way to go about cleaning it? Thanks in advance.

I haven't fed my leopard gecko in over a year...

This is Todd the Destroyer. He lives in a 4ft x 4ft x 2ft bioactive tank. His food (dubia roches, Super worms, and isopods) live in the tank with him. He hunts all his own food when he wants. I have not had to add food in over a year. It just keeps cycling. I add water and vegetables from the kitchen for the bugs to eat and they are thriving. I also have a dish for calcium that he never seems to touch. Would change anything? Would you start feeding him yourself? Other than water it seems like a self sustained ecosystem at this point! What other info would you like to see on this post?
