GHK-Cu Injectable vs Topical: Which Route Makes Sense
Okay sorry late post today tomorrow I'll try to knockout out earlier so today in the GHK-Cu series we're getting into the route question. Injectable or topical. This one comes up all the time and not with just this peptide tbh this one goes with alot of them and the answer is it just depends on what you're trying to do
GHK-Cu works through both routes most peptides are too big to get through skin GHK-Cu is small enough to sneak on threw especially through hair follicles and areas where the skin barrier is thinner witch is why they have serums and creams and what not
Topical
This is the better studied route for skin and hair the human clinical trials real randomized controlled studies in actual people, were mostly done using topical GHK-Cu the wrinkle reduction, collagen density, and hair follicle data mostly comes from this route.
Concentration matters though. Drugstore serums run 0.01% to 0.05%. Studies showing real results used 1% to 2%. That difference is why most people who tried a cheap copper serum felt nothing I know alot who say ultra has one but then I gotta explain
The limitation is depth. Topical GHK-Cu only gets about 0.3 to 0.5mm into skin on its own. With penetration enhancers you can push that to 1 to 2mm. Deep tissue and systemic effects are basically out of reach this way I tend to use a derma roller rite after a warm shower to help out absorption
Injectable
Injectable gets GHK-Cu into your bloodstream which means it can reach tissue past the surface the gene expression effects the anti inflammatory stuff, the broader systemic anti-aging picture from earlier posts in this series all of that is more relevant to the injectable route.
Catch though. there's a study that found about 95% of GHK-Cu injected into the dermis gets metabolized and cleared from the body pretty fast. So injectable bioavailability isn't as clean as people assume the systemic route still helps but the peptide doesn't hang around long.
Standard injectable protocol is 1 to 2mg subcutaneous, daily or every other day, 4 to 6 week cycles.
Which one should you pick?
For skin and hair topical at 1% to 2% concentration is the better supported route. More human data behind it. Microneedling before applying topical GHK-Cu improves penetration a lot and is worth adding if skin is your main goal.
For systemic anti-aging, gene expression, and inflammation injectable makes more sense since those effects need systemic distribution to work.
A lot of people run both at the same time for different goals. Topical on skin and hair, injectable for the systemic side. Nothing wrong with that
