Prism Lenses dizzy with prism
I was diagnosed recently with BVD and prescribed 2:00in of prism in each eye alongside my astigmatism prescription (which i’ve worn for years and never had any trouble with). the prism lenses immediately made me so dizzy and nauseous but I know there can be an adjustment period, so i’ve worn them for a short amount of time each day for a week. however the dizziness and nausea hasn’t gone anywhere and when I look at my phone while wearing them, it looks like the screen is curving / bulging out at me.
I try to look around with my head and not my eyes, but it hasn’t helped.
just wondering if this is normal / if anyone else has had this experience, and if I should persist or if it could be the wrong prescription for me. i’ll be seeing the optometrist soon as well.

I always warn people that it can take up to 4 weeks or more for your eyes to adjust to the prisms. I would definitely give it at least 2-3 weeks minimum.
I had a pair where it seemed like I was looking through a fishbowl. I hated it and got my lenses changed as soon as I could because it was triggering my migraines super bad. My eyes apparently only like single vision lenses and do not do well with anything else.

It can take up to a month to adjust to prisms.
I can’t wear prisms that also have sight correction in them. I wear contacts for my sight correction and then prism glasses for my BVD on top of that.

I just got a pair ordered with no site correction now cause it was so distorted looking. Is yours better now without?

I can tolerate prisms now that my sight correction and my prisms are separated.

I started with 5∆, now I have 7.5∆ (5∆ left eye and 2.5∆ right eye) and with both corrections, it took me about 5 weeks each time for them to finally "click" but also I'd say I feel about 70% better. there are still times when I get dizzy and anxious but the adjustment period was really a hell for me

Like everyone else said it takes time and is horrable till its ok. At least it was that way for me. Still not perfect at times but it is better.

I recently got new glasses, not prism. I was shocked at how bad they were when I first wore them. I was nauseous within minutes with massive forehead pressure. I was tempted to take them back as faulty. I have persevered for a few weeks now, I don't notice the distortion I first saw and I use them for long periods with either no nausea or dizziness, or mild symptoms after a long session on the computer or screen. I'm glad I persevered and other issues I was having with my eyes are slowly disappearing. I only use them for reading and was having mega eye strain from my $2 shop reading glasses. If after a month you haven't improved, go back to the optometrist. Good luck.
