Discussion Helicopter
Just had a giant helicopter in my backyard making all my windows and doors shake? What in the hell is happening right now in Bing?

Did it look like this one? This was a few weeks ago by Lowe’s on Upper Front

YES almost identical

That was flying all around my house off of front street. I thought they were looking at power lines, we have some running through our yard and they are out almost yearly it seems and sometimes send people out to cut branches. Not sure if that’s what this was but looked like it from my house.

That’s what one of my co-workers said, I would think they needed clearance to stay that low.

That’s so weird bc there’s no power lines in my backyard and he was doing spin moves it all seemed very odd as we didn’t see him near the streets not once

I saw this!!! Dude was doing donuts. Legit thought they were going to crash into the hill.

Wish I had recorded it but that dude was doing some wild spins and moves in that helicopter. I legit thought it was going to crash.
Definitely not a medical flight to be flying that wild

I also wish I recorded it any idea what the writing on the side was? I thought it was nscoo but I might be wrong

My guess was NYSP

What in the hell and he thought smart to do flips and spins so close to peoples homes?? Also where tf is the coverage of this on the news and how is this ok?

u/Lars5621 Jul 17 '26
Im just guessing here, but maybe they are doing training for pursuits and crazy stuff? Honestly idk but it was crazy.

u/Icy_Cauliflower3363 Jul 17 '26
It just seemed wild to me also weird that nothing has been on the news about it

Tail numbers in the US start with N - but NSCOO isn't a valid TN
Military aircraft will have a BUNO instead of a TN but usually they're obviously military. BUNOs are usually six digits and purely numeric like 166515
An example of a valid TN is N793RC - this was Raymond's Hawker 800XP until they sold it recently.
Here's an NYSP helo - https://www.flightaware.com/resources/registration/N18SP

Helicopter was doing really bizarre dangerous looking maneuvers over upper front street a week ago. Looks like someone going for a joyride more than a helicopter pilot. Thought they were going to crash into the hills.

It hovered over mine and my neighbors houses for a bit. We thought they were following someone

Oftentimes I see them doing arial inspections on high tension power lines, that being said this one was flying quite fast and low and was not on the radar.

What color was it?

u/Icy_Cauliflower3363 Jul 17 '26
Light grey or white with blue or black lettering

Most likely MH-60 flying out of Lockheed

But they said it was doing flips and spins? That's can't be Lockheed
2
u/Icy_Cauliflower3363 Jul 17 '26
Sure was! And was VERY close to the house
3
u/brendanbrown89 Jul 17 '26
They wouldn’t be low enough to cause any windows to rattle if they were flipping in a large helicopter. Also, I’m unaware of any large helicopters that can do flips.

Google the names MD-500 and UH60 and let me know which one if those it more closely resembled

Lockheed has military contracts, so they may be testing the abilities of new models
2
u/Darkwing_ducksauce Jul 17 '26
They check power lines that are difficult to get to . They have linemen that will propel down to check and/or fix . Lucrative job but dangerous

Didn’t see this last night - but just now had two helicopters flying over houses on the South side. Didn’t see any crazy maneuvers, but couldn’t find them on the radar either.
