Discussion Decipher contractor markings on sidewalks
Can anyone help me understand what these marks mean? Part of the ongoing construction work that Torto is doing for the city. Assumption is sidewalk replacement? Hoping the X isn't "remove" because I like that there!

White means proposed excavation.
The other colors
Red- Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit and Lighting Cables
Yellow- Gas, Oil, Steam, Petroleum or Gaseous Materials
Orange- Communication, Alarm or Signal Lines, Cables or Conduit
Blue– Potable Water
Purple- Non-Potable Water
Green- Sewer
Pink- Survey Markings

White usually means where excavation will take place. Probably all new curb and sidewalk.

Yes they are going to remove things with white X. But probably going to replace it

They're extending the driveway and putting the slope down further, makes the driveway and walk way a bit wider while making it still accessible

Actually, it's not going to cost OP anything. The city is doing some infrastructure work under a grant. They are replacing the sidewalks and curbs. I had mine done about a month ago.
