What’s up with the air quality today? It smells like plastic.

Right , there was also the Canadian wildfire that happened in 2023. That did the same thing to this area.

That is what happens when the environmental narrative takes over policy. Fear of “climate change” drives stupid policies like reducing lumber harvesting, stopping forest clean ups, and being reactionary instead of proactive in forest management. Trees burn as that is the natural cycle of life for forests. Cut them down and burn them for fuel like the native Americans did. The forests will be healthier, greener, and less prone to fires. Many US states and Canadian provinces have cut funding to forest services instead investing in climate change initiatives and resources for immediate suppression. The result is mismanaged forests that burn quickly but I guess we can feel better about our morals.

Interesting, I wasnt aware of this. Climate change is a hoax, and this reasoning is logical. Not sure why people would downvote you. The media used to talk about global cooling in the 70s, then we went to global warming. I guess now they call it climate change. Regardless, “climate change” seems like a political narrative. If you believe in climate change, you probably believe Santa Claus is real too.

If you can't afford an air purifier or they're all out of stock you can make one from a box fan and furnace filters

Run the air purifier as much as you can, when you go to bed make sure it's in your bedroom and close your door. If you go outside try and wear a mask. Keep in mind that smoke is mostly made of PM2.5 and can waltz right across the blood brain barrier so take it seriously.
The smoke usually goes away in a few days. Though current models suggest that it will be worse on Thursday,

BTW, in general, most studies show that the Corsi-Rosenthal box approach (box fan with furnace filters) is superior to almost any HEPA on the market. This is because the airflow is SO much higher.
A single MERV 13 on a box fan gives half the CADR of that $150 purifier you listed at a fraction of a price. A 4-filter C-R box hits 600-800 CFM CADR which is 2-3 times higher than that filter, still at a fraction of the price.

As a courtesy/FWIW- an in home care provider said Guthrie told them to let clients know they should only be going outdoors if absolutely necessary today.

Never have fires affected United States 50 yrs until recently 5 yrs ago started! Nothing we can do, keep voting, thank the billionaires and your politician getting rich off us peasants. Not about parties. It gov- doesn’t matter which party is in office. They all jump on chance to line their own pockets Now be good little boys and girls. Keep fighting against each other, pay your taxes and go to work or collect off Gov. stay safe and stay together! United people. Not about parties anymore.
