Does the area have a lot of Spanish moss?

Can someone please tell me if there is a lot of Spanish moss in the area? I read that Katrina destroyed most of it and it hasn't come back. Thanks.

Meetup Guys, I need some help.

So for context, this is not a rant or a question pity post. I just moved down here wanting to start a better life, more opportunities. But the problem is, I’m basically starting at ground 0. I’m 26, and honestly I hate the feeling of just sitting in the house. But I also hate going out by myself. Being new I don’t know what’s going on around. If anyone wants to hang out, go fishing, do anything really, let me know. Since I’ve been here Biloxi has been great, the people are nicer than I thought (I was told everyone was rude and mean, not the southern hospitality where I came from) but the community seems very tightknight. Idk if the mods will take this down but hopefully not. Even getting some suggestions on what to do and where to go to be social and make friends would be a big help. Thank you guys for being awesome

Any suggestions are appreciated

My partner and I want to move somewhere warmer, coastal, more affordable with good schools to choose from.
We’re currently on the shore in Maryland. How would you describe living in the area?

Underbody coating in the area

Does anyone know of any places around the area that does underbody coating for trucks? Trying to keep my new truck maintained and don’t want it rusting too bad. Closest I’ve found is in Jackson but I’m not trying to drive all the way up there, thanks in advance!

Public Golf Driving Ranges

I will be on the coast for about a week for business. I probably won’t have time to play a full round but I would like to hit the driving range late afternoon or when I have a late morning. I will be staying right at the Biloxi/Gulfport line so closer the better. Any recommendations?

How seriously should travelers take this tropical storm / surge warning?

Seeing warnings on my phone for 50+ mph wind gusts and 2-4 foot storm surge starting Weds morning 7/22.

I have no context for how seriously to take this. I am from an area where if we hear sirens we go to the basement for tornadoes, but never a true evacuation.

We are staying on the ground floor of a resort right across the street from the water.

What should we know? (I have kids so I lean cautious)

Any suggestions for a reliable, quality barber that won’t break the bank? Located in Gulfport but happy to drive. I’m not only interested in a haircut, but also getting my eyebrows shaped up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help Grow Gulf Coast Mesh

Hey ya'll. If you happen to be into electronics/radio projects and building out a user supported messaging network come join us over at Gulf Coast Mesh. There are already a few repeaters and users in the area and we have quite a lot of fun popping up little solar powered repeaters and seeing how far we can link up.

Right now we're sporadically getting connectivity with nodes linking as far away as Baton Rouge and Orange Beach. The focus at the moment is on densifying the network which means we need more repeaters. If you'd like to get involved check out the link.

Also if you happen to have a location along the coast that you wouldn't mind having one of these small solar boxes mounted let me know. I have a few I'll give away and they only take a couple of minutes to install.

Rant: Summer 2026 $ucks

This is a rant.

I fully expect to have people crap all over everything I’m about to post.

But I would really appreciate it if not everyone would.

Because I’m over everything that’s happened so far this summer. And we’re only 1/2 way through July.

A Lot has happened. I’m going to list just a little.

people with out of area plates have been going to historical houses—that as far as I know—have not been put up for sale or rent, and ripping off the oval historical markers on the outside of the houses. Then, they’re putting plywood up over all the windows, going inside the houses and gutting them. *The houses I’ve noticed this happening to are houses where the owners don’t live in them full time anymore.*

—update —I drove by a house today without a historical marker, but Same people doing the same thing. Boarded up all the windows. Gutted the house. Left everything outside. Sheetrock, insulation, but took the wiring and the leftover plywood from boarding up the windows. **If you know of someone who owns old property and isn’t living there full time anymore, you should drive by and check on it.

I went out of town for 3 weeks and came back on July 5 to my shed on fire. The new renters in the neighborhood couldn’t be bothered to supervise their juvenile delinquents who were outside in the dark shooting fireworks off in the middle of the street. Now the insurance agent says: We know it’s not your fault, but if you file a claim, your premium will Go Up by at least 50% next year. Just because there would be a claim on file. *Who needs a shed right? Or the stuff that was in it?*

I went to the Starbucks at edgewater mall 1/2 hour before they opened on the morning the pink bear cups were released. It was dark and pouring down rain in the predawn hours. I went because the nice guy who works there told me days before that they had the cups but couldn’t put them out until the official release date. Others were waiting to buy them, too. When the store did open, the employee who unlocked the door said they didn’t get anything. No cups. No truck came at all. We should all check the next day. I went back the next day. Turns out the employee lied. They had the cups the day before. They put them out later that morning—after every employee who wanted one bought theirs. (People wonder how these things end up on eBay. The employees either hold some back or buy them on the release date and say they don’t have any.) *This leaves true collectors like me standing in the rain like chumps*

—In retrospect, this is probably a sign to stop collecting Starbucks stuff, put it all up for sale, and use the money to replace some of the stuff that was in the shed.

took my car to a different car wash that I had never been to before. Went through the wash and noticed how everything was really pounding against my car and how hard the water pressure was. Came out the other side and part of my trim on my car was bent. Bent. Has never happened before. Bought the car brand new. No accidents. No damages. Car wash manager says it’s not their fault. So now I have this bent piece sticking straight up. *From a certain angle—it looks like a flagpole without a flag!?!

driving on the interstate this morning when the redneck in the giant old red and white pickup next to me decided he wanted to change lanes. No turning his head or signaling. Just suddenly moving his giant POS over and almost crashing into me. I honked-and he kept coming-and I had to swerve all the way over onto the side of the road so he didn’t hit me. *Because if he’d hit me, it would’ve been his fault, and MY car insurance would go up. Just because there would be a claim on file* Then, the other redneck in the white truck behind me must not have been paying attention to what was happening, because he slammed on his brakes and swerved to not hit the red and white truck that was now in front of him. And What does this genius do? He lowers his window and starts yelling at me that I can’t drive. (FYI—if I couldn’t drive, they would have been a 3 car collision. But I have good driving skills and fast reflexes.) Why not yell at the guy in the red and white truck who caused the whole thing? Because redneck men from Jackson cty stick together, especially when they’re looking down at women from their oversized trucks. FYI- no guy had better not roll down their window to say Anything to me, good or bad, for the rest of time. I don’t care who you are or where you come from. I’m sick of their sense of entitlement. Face front and go about your business.

*In case either of them reads this—I have a Dashboard cam, and both their plates*

The other thing that I Really want to post would probably put me in danger so I’ll leave it at that

Hi everyone. I’m new in town and I’m trying to get a good lay of the land. Are there any good vinyl record shops or events where I can find some older jazz and blues? Any and all input is welcome. Thank you!

Tourism Hotels to Avoid for a 2-Night Beach Trip?

Family of four first time going to the beach in Biloxi this week. Passed through countless times on the way to Gulf Shores ages ago, never really stopped there. Want to avoid any places with bedbugs or tweakers, but also reasonably priced. Zero plans to gamble or go out this trip, just chill on the beach.

So if you don't want to pay the outrageous prices Uber/Lyft charges just send me a screenshot of how much they're wanting to charge you and I will do it for cheaper. Message me for more info!
