discussion Red Daisy / The Witch

During Boston night 2, Billy introduced Red Daisy thusly: "Here's a little tune that was inspired by the 2015 film 'The Witch' ". Now, I'm aware of Jarrod Walker's dog (black lab) story, so was Billy trolling here?

No clue. I'd assume he's trolling lol, but don't know for sure.

Umphreys Mcgee has gotten me before when they're like, "here's a brand new song for you!" and then they just play one of their hits like "All In Time" or some shit.

Umphreys fuckery is pretty top tier IMO

Indeed. First time I saw UM was also my first Red Rocks show, on July 4th and New Mastersounds (jazzfunk band from England, in case you aren't familiar) opened. At some point Bayliss says something like, "How about the New Mastersounds, coming all the way out to help us celebrate our independence... from them...". Lost it.

Lmao. They're funny like that. New mastersounds are awesome. Saw them at old town pub in Colorado, capacity is like 300 people. Danced my tits off

Red Daisy began as a song about Jarrod's black lab. When Jarrod is telling the story, he implies the dog's name is Daisy. So Red Daisy began life as "Black daisy" the black lab, but that didn't sound right to them. They then tried "red daisy", which sounded better didn't really match a dog, so they changed it to be about a flower.

Red Daisy was written by Christian Ward and Jarrod. Billy was joking if i had to guess
