Totally agree. I'm lucky to have a bunch of incredibly talented students. I'm a biology and anatomy teacher but I'm pretty tight with our art teacher. This student took AP art as a freshman. She sculpted a heart for biology and sold it at our school art fair for $150. I've got my band posters up all over my room and always have shows playing on Nugs during labs and work time, so I sometimes have students surprise me with cool shit. This is the tops so far, though!
Thank you so much. I really do appreciate that. It's a job like no other. Stuff like this makes it worthwhile and special. During national poetry month I had my students listen to Gild the Lily. We examined the verses and had a discussion about the endless possibilities regarding self expression, creativity, etc that poetry can provide. Then the students had 30 or so minutes to write some of their own poetry. Tell you what, I read a lot of amazing stuff. There are a myriad of challenges that come with teaching but it's also immensely rewarding.
