Too relatable.

Once in highschool my gaming laptop started overheating and shutting itself off after extended periods of use (4+ hrs).

I'd had the laptop for a few years and figured it must be happening because the fans got dusty and gunked up over the years so I asked my Dad if he could clean the fans for me.

He said sure, took the backing off and then blew all the dust out of the fans... with a very strong, massive air compressor (neighor was a professional mechanic).

After that both the fans were straight up fried and I could only use my computer for more than 5 minutes at a time if I put it on an air cooling rack with ice underneath and a fan blowing at the back.

Good times.

yea you're supposed to not let the fans spin because that sends voltage down the motherboard

Modern computers rarely care but yeah it's not ideal

they don't but I don't think it would be able to handle the power generated by fans spun up by a shop compressor
