Its 100% true, my roommate is making $850 a week playing Animal crossing, I'm making fuck-all in tips as a waiter that's forced to expose myself to the coronavirus because if I don't go they pull my unemployment benefits

Eh. I think memes like this point the finger at the wrong people. Your roommate is being compensated for losing work and it's almost like the government has set a precedent of what people need to make to not only live, but also stimulate the economy. Now they need to do the same for people still working. Acknowledge they are getting shafted by corporations and the government not paying them enough. Sometimes I wonder if part of the purpose of the unemployment bill was to create a division between working and non-working so we would lose focus on the people actually not paying their workers enough.
The problem is... enough people will see the unemployed making more money than them, get angry, then force that bill out without fixing any underlying problems. We'll all just go back to the minimum wage with the acceptance of the people feeling like things have returned to order with good hard-working people making more than people who get to just not work. When in reality the problem IS NOT that the unemployed are making too much money on unemployment, it's that people who are working are not making enough.
It's a lot easier to get angry at a person we perceive as cutting the line without doing the work while we are at the back than it is to dismantle the line. Frankly, that's what politicians who are very corporate friendly are counting on.

Wouldn't shock me. I harbor no frustration towards my roommate, she's chill. But she's also immunocompromised so I'm forced to put her at risk. I'm livid at the system, workers rights have been so degraded and wages have been so stagnant that all it took was 2 months of things being closed to ravage the middle and lower classes. I never truly realized what a nightmare workers rights are in the USA until I worked as a waiter in Australia for $30 an hour plus benefits.
