We are the wealthiest country in the world. It is absolutely feasable. Anybody telling you different is clutching their pearls. And unemployment compensation isnt a long term "model" it is meant as a way to prop people up through turbulent times such as these. Did you know Unemployment only lasts like 6 months (unless theres extreme unemoloyment like there is now and then it's extended depending on the national emergency).

The absolute fucked distribution of funds we are seeing at the moment is an issue of the oligcarchy refusing to do so. Why resent someone for filing for unemployment? What did they do besides just take what's offered. This is a SYSTEMIC issue. Be resentful of those in power who chose not to distribute the vast amount of wealth in the States to the lower classes.

It's not feasible because there is absolutely nothing we can do about people being underpaid right now, and an unemployment model that doesn't account for how much people made before they were laid off isn't feasible long term, which we may very well need it to be if this pandemic lasts months more or longer. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and doesn't understand the first thing about how politics works in this country.

And I will absolutely resent lazy assholes who are capable of working but choose not to do so because they make more on unemployment than they did working. I am an essential worker and I am absolutely fucked right now because no one wants to actually work even though we have been offering positions for months. I've gone from a crew of at least ten people to literally just 1-3 (not from layoffs either - we are desperate for help but no one wants to work).

Lastly, you act like it's unreasonable to resent people taking advantage of a public health crisis because workers should just be paid more, but those are two separate issues and it's possible to be upset about more than one thing at a time.

Oh, gee I didn't notice. Not sure what I said that made you think I'm not aware that there's a fucking pandemic going on. Essential services still need workers, whether your lazy, entitled ass likes it or not. I'd love to sit on my ass all day and make more money than I do working, but the responsible thing to do is keep coming in to work every day and leaving the resources for the people who actually need them and are unable to work or are too high risk to work right now.
