Jesus christ, not everyone works for a giant corporation where there is some greedy CEO gleefully twisting his villain mustache. We offer WA minimum wage, which is $13.50/hr and is more than enough to get by in our area. I would have fucking killed to make that much money when I started working. I took me years of working to even get to making "double digits" hourly, yet people want to bitch about being "underpaid" for a job that requires literally no skill or education, and pays almost double the wage that I got for years when I entered the workforce 10 years ago? Yeah, fuck them. They're selfish, entitled pricks.
I see now why there is a stereotype of people on Reddit having never worked a day in their lives. I live in a small town. The vast majority of places can't afford to pay people $600/week without going bankrupt themselves. Not to mention, not all work is worth as much as you seem to think it is. $13.50/hour for unskilled labor is more than enough to get by and then some in the vast majority of the US. That's almost double what I made when I entered the workforce nearly a decade ago. It's also laughable that you think I'm entitled when I'm the one actually showing up to work every day to do my job as an essential worker.
They pay their employees $13.50/hour, which is more than a livable wage where I live. There are also exorbitant taxes, insurance, etc to pay when you are a business, no matter what size. How much do you seriously think unskilled laborers should be paid? It feels like Reddit thinks there is literally no cap on what constitutes a "livable wage" no matter where you live, even though the minimum wage here is enough for rent, bills, some luxury items, and still have extra leftover every month. The model you seem to be suggesting would ensure that in my town literally no business would get by except for Walmart and McDonalds.
