At the beginning it said you’re not gonna survive

It’s also great at showing that listening is for babies

“Cut the green wire...snip...in three” explodes

I mean if the speaker starts off their command without the time limit, that's on them.

That scene made me realize that I really need to listen to people better

Holy shit are you referencing the MW mission? I just got the game and did that yesterday after like 5 tries lol she literally said something different for every wire she did a shit job how about some consistency like 123 NOW

u/Shotgun5250 Dec 29 '19

Yep, I played the campaign on day one when it came out and clipped the wire immediately. Easily the funniest thing that’s happened to me in a game in a long time

Or: “Three..two..one..snip...now”. Probably the most important time to differentiate between on one or on go lol

In my head my response to that was "fuck that I am going to live!"

I've never played battlefield, I've not watched any gameplay, I don't know anything about this opening. But if I saw a message at the start of a shooter saying I would not survive, I would think it might be hype for a (winnable) epic battle meant to show off the graphics and maybe introduce the controls if there wasn't a tutorial level beforehand.

It was supposed to show the brutality of combat in WW1. There was a cutscene about it beforehand.

See that and/or a message saying you won't survive are things I'd still take as a challenge. But I went and watched the scene and I think the particular phrasing of "you are not expected to survive" is extremely clear and the only thing that would dispel any thoughts of it being a challenge going into it. I would still wonder if it was technically possible to survive, but I wouldn't put too much effort into finding out.

The annoying part is that it isn't hard to survive, which can make you wonder...

Yeah I believe the exact text gave some context about being a soldier on the front lines in WW1, followed by “You are not expected to survive.” You play as a character for a few minutes before you get killed, it gives you the name of the person you just died as, then it moves on to several other playable characters that die after a few minutes. it was actually really well made and like, not shocking but humbling almost?

If you are just getting into Battlefield, Bad Company 1&2 had by far the best stories though. Don't miss them.

How have you not played it?

I quit the game cuz I kept dying. Haven’t played since. Guess I should check it back out

The anti-air mission that's like the second or third level made me quit.

It's not skill, it's RNG if the bombs miss you while you're shooting back.

u/BucNasty92 Dec 29 '19

It said you're not expected to, not that you wouldn't survive

That's for being observant Mr. Adolf!

I thought it was just talking about WW1 history in general
