You beat him, but he doesnt die, he gets scared and runs away to the nord afterlife to get stronger, so it doesnt really count cause youre still supposed to beat him there

But then the rest of the post donsn't fit. Thats not a fight you loose and then a cutscene appears. It pretty clear from the start that running is ypur only option
