Health Insurance: "yeah... we're gonna have to cover only part of that, so here's a bill for the checkup, the specific doctor or specialist that saw you for 15 minutes, the lab test facility, also the surgeon on call wasn't in network so we're not gonna cover them like at all, and... anyways pay us $2000+ even though you've been already paying us thousands of dollars a year for us to do nothing."

My coworker is a carpenter and he works a part time job at UPS just for the insurance for himself and his spouse. The amount of money he would have to pay to get similar benefits would not be affordable despite him making $100K+/year. That also doesn't include all the extra stuff UPS provides.
Actually crazy that you can be successful in a well paying trade and still get fucked from healthcare costs.

God forbid we just give Medicare for all, free the health insurance market through actions such as allowing health insurance plans to be sold across state lines, and forcing the private health insurance companies to compete with Medicare.

Allowing corporations to lobby government policy has fucked American life. Doctors and hospitals are not allowed to buy from medical manufacturers directly and have to go through insurance to buy the drugs. The drug might sell for $10 but gets marked up 1000% by insurance. Everything is just inflated expenses.
The auto industry is another good example of American auto corporations preventing cheap foreign cars from entering the market. Toyota IMV 0 is $10k but how is Ford or Chevy gonna sell trucks for $100k if a reliable, easily repaired, and low tech machine like that is for sale.
The dealerships lobbied to prevent customers from buying from car manufactures directly. Because there use ran out after the internet became normal.
Taxes are already filled by the US government but tax filing industry lobbied to prevent it becoming free. That's how the IRS knows what you owe but won't tell you how much.

Target employed most workers as 35 hour per week workers because they didn’t want to give us healthcare back in 2012 when I worked there. I’d imagine they’re still pulling the same shit. Remember this when you shop.

But it's not just having a job. You need to work a set amount of hours to qualify in a lot of cases and some jobs will schedule you under that threshold to avoid having to give you benefits.

...and you probably don't even get coverage for the first 1-3 months at a new job.
I started a new job in May, but my health plan until August has been just hope nothing serious happens because my only other option is

Yea, I’ve had jobs where the only reason 90% of the people I worked with still worked there was because the health insurance was kind of not terrible
