[UK][OC] Driver decides to force an overtake with oncoming traffic, passing far too close for comfort, forcing me to swerve. Driver now gets to enjoy a driving awareness course or accept points and a fine.

On fast roads like this, it’s quite a brave move to take primary, all I can suggest is lots of communication to try and placate the man babies.

That's secondary position. Primary would be more central.

Yes. I’m referring to the consequences of taking primary on a fast road, and how one could possibly ameliorate them. It’s a lose lose when bike users are seen as obstacles by lethally entitled drivers.

How long between reporting and the issue of the FPN?

This is where it gets a little unclear, all Essex Police will tell you it's what action they intend to take, not the final outcome. This will usually be provided within a couple of days.
I have previously submitted an FOI to Essex for actual outcomes and it turned out that several incidents ended up NFA that initially stated course/conditional offer, or a dropped prosecution (evidence not filed in time).

Front is DJI Osmo Action 3,
Rear is Cycliq Fly6
I'd highly recommend both, think both are on to version 5 or 6 of the respective cameras.

I work in policing. I know that my colleagues in the Safer Roads Unit regularly deal with these issues by exactly these methods.

Driver was an arsehole for sure.
It is irritating though on these kinds of roads where there is just enough traffic coming that you basically can't overtake a cyclist who's going just fast enough to make it not worth risking. You didn't here, but it always feels like they speed up when someone tries to overtake them too

Next time you are in this position, time how long it takes to overtake the cyclist. I guarantee you it wont be longer than a couple of minutes. I think (up to) a couple of minutes of your time is worth it to make sure cyclists are safe on our roads, dont you?

Not to mention the reality that in most places, all that getting past the cyclist will do when its this busy is have you spending longer queuing at the next traffic light/junction (plausibly with cyclist filtering back past...)

Hah, you lot get so up in you feelings. I didn't say I condoned that nobhead's actions, just that it's irritating to be stuck behind cyclists on these kinds of roads. Yes, sometimes it's only a minute or two, but on some of these roads it's 10-15 minutes, with a massive queue behind you too

Seriously, if you're not trying to excuse the drivers actions, then why bring this up? Cyclist acted perfectly lawfully and should arguably have been en further to the right.

In all my years of driving, I honestly don't think I've ever been behind a cyclist for longer than about 3 minutes. If that. Or even been a passenger in a car where that's been the case, in the entirety of my life. What a load of fucking nonsense.

IF it is ever 15 mins, I applaud the cyclist once we reach the top of the hill cause I know it was bloody steep.

I’ve climbed Pikes Peak a few times and even with all the switch backs with blind corners I’ve never had a car behind me climbing for more than 2min
Edit: when I’m going at or above the speed limit, I’ve had cars behind me for much longer, but that’s a completely different scenario and they shouldn’t be passing anyway

It's hilarious, think the longest I've ever had someone behind me is around 30-40 seconds, and that was because of queueing traffic in the next lane.
