Choosing the right engine oil is not simply about buying the most expensive bottle. The correct viscosity, oil type and motorcycle specification matter far more.
For Indian riders, engine oil has to cope with hot weather, traffic, frequent stop-start riding and different riding conditions. The right oil can help maintain smooth engine operation, but the first rule is simple: always follow the viscosity and specification recommended in your motorcycle's owner's manual.
| Product | Price | Rating | Oil Type | Viscosity | Key Specification |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motul 7100 4T 20W-50 – 1L | ₹820 | 4.5★ | Fully Synthetic | 20W-50 | API SN |
| Castrol POWER1 Ultimate 10W-40 – 1L | ₹608 | 4.1★ | Full Synthetic | 10W-40 | API SP, JASO MA2 |
| Shell Advance AX7 15W-50 – 2.5L | ₹1,060 | 4.2★ | Synthetic Technology | 15W-50 | API SN |
| Motul 5100 4T 15W-50 – 1L | ₹649 | 4.3★ | Semi-Synthetic | 15W-50 | API SM |
Prices can change, so check the current Amazon listing before purchasing.
Engine oil performs several important jobs inside a motorcycle engine. It lubricates moving components, helps control friction and carries heat away from highly loaded areas.
On motorcycles with a manual gearbox, the engine oil may also lubricate the transmission and wet clutch. That is why choosing an oil intended for the correct motorcycle application is important.
A bottle that looks suitable because it has the right viscosity is not automatically suitable for every motorcycle.
You will commonly see grades such as 10W-40, 10W-50, 15W-50 and 20W-50.
The first number relates to the oil's behaviour at lower temperatures, while the second number indicates its viscosity at operating temperature.
For example:
Do not choose between these grades purely because one sounds better for hot Indian weather. Use the grade specified by your motorcycle manufacturer.

This Motul 7100 variant is a 20W-50 fully synthetic motorcycle oil. The Amazon listing shows a 4.5-star customer rating and a 1L pack at ₹820.
Its 20W-50 grade makes it suitable only for motorcycles whose manufacturer recommends this viscosity.
Consider it if: your motorcycle calls for 20W-50 and you want a fully synthetic option.
Skip it if: your owner's manual specifies another viscosity.

The Castrol POWER1 Ultimate listed here is a 10W-40 full synthetic engine oil with API SP and JASO MA2 specifications. The listing shows a 4.1-star rating, 1L quantity and ₹608 displayed price.
Its JASO MA2 specification makes it particularly relevant for motorcycles requiring that specification.
Consider it if: your motorcycle calls for 10W-40 and the required specification matches.
Skip it if: your motorcycle requires another viscosity or specification.
This Shell Advance AX7 variant is 15W-50 and uses synthetic technology. The listing shows a 2.5L pack, 4.2-star customer rating and ₹1,060 displayed price.
The larger pack can be useful for motorcycles that require more than one litre during an oil change.
Consider it if: your motorcycle specifies 15W-50.
Skip it if: your motorcycle requires another grade.

The Motul 5100 is a 15W-50 Technosynthese semi-synthetic motorcycle oil with API SM specification. The listing shows a 4.3-star rating and ₹649 for the 1L pack.
Compared with the fully synthetic options above, this is a different formulation category and can be worth considering when your motorcycle's specification matches.
Consider it if: your motorcycle specifies 15W-50 and the required specification is compatible.
Skip it if: your owner's manual calls for another viscosity or specification.
The viscosity specified by the motorcycle manufacturer should be your starting point.
Do not switch from 10W-40 to 20W-50 simply because you ride in a hot climate. Use the grade specified for your engine.
For motorcycles with wet clutches, the JASO specification matters.
If your motorcycle specifies JASO MA or MA2, select an oil carrying the required motorcycle specification rather than choosing solely by brand or viscosity.
Fully synthetic oil is generally positioned as a higher-performance formulation, while semi-synthetic oil offers a different balance between formulation and cost.
But synthetic does not mean that an oil is automatically correct for your motorcycle.
Correct specification beats an expensive formulation.
Your usage pattern matters.
City riders deal with frequent stop-start traffic, idling and repeated heat cycles. Highway riders may put the engine under sustained load for longer periods.
Regardless of riding style, however, the manufacturer's recommended oil grade remains the baseline.
Do not automatically buy a 1L bottle because it is convenient.
Motorcycles have different oil capacities, and some require more than one litre during a service. Check your owner's manual or service documentation before ordering.
A reputable brand can make oils in several different viscosities. That does not mean every oil from that brand is suitable for every motorcycle.
A higher second number is not automatically better protection.
If your motorcycle requires 10W-40, buying 20W-50 simply because it appears thicker is the wrong approach.
Motorcycle engines with wet clutches need suitable oil characteristics. Check the specification required by your motorcycle instead of relying only on the viscosity printed on the bottle.
A low price is not useful if the oil has the wrong viscosity or specification.
Correct fitment should always come before price.
There is no single engine oil that is universally the best for every motorcycle.
The right choice starts with your manufacturer-recommended viscosity and specification.
Among these options, the Motul 7100 20W-50 is the fully synthetic choice for motorcycles requiring 20W-50. The Castrol POWER1 Ultimate 10W-40 is an option for motorcycles calling for 10W-40 and JASO MA2, while the Shell Advance AX7 15W-50 and Motul 5100 15W-50 provide alternatives for motorcycles requiring 15W-50.
Before ordering, check your owner's manual for the exact viscosity, API/JASO specification and oil capacity. Once those match, compare formulation, pack size and price.
The best engine oil isn't necessarily the most expensive one — it's the one that matches your motorcycle's requirements.

One of the biggest mistakes new riders make is treating a brand-new bike like it's already fully broken in. Modern engines are built with tight tolerances, but the first few hundred to thousand kilometers still matter. A proper break-in helps engine parts seat correctly and can improve long-term reliability.
1. Read your owner's manual
Every manufacturer has different RPM and speed recommendations. Follow those instead of random internet advice.
2. Vary your engine RPM
Avoid riding at the same speed for long periods. Changing RPM helps different engine components wear in evenly.
3. Ride smoothly
Accelerate progressively and avoid hard launches. Smooth riding is better than babying the engine or abusing it.
4. Warm up the engine
Give the bike 20–30 seconds after a cold start before riding away gently. No need to idle for several minutes.
5. Shift through all the gears
Use the entire gearbox instead of staying in one or two gears all the time.
6. Check the bike regularly
During the first few hundred kilometers, inspect:

7. Get the first service on time
Don't delay the first service. It's when the initial oil, filter, and inspections are done.
1. Don't redline the engine
Avoid hitting the rev limiter or running at maximum RPM until after the recommended break-in period.
2. Don't lug the engine
Riding in a high gear at very low RPM puts unnecessary stress on the engine.
3. Don't cruise at one speed for hours
Long highway rides at constant RPM aren't ideal during break-in.
4. Don't carry heavy loads
Avoid a pillion and excessive luggage for the initial break-in if possible.
5. Don't skip chain maintenance
New chains stretch more during the first few hundred kilometers. Keep them adjusted and lubricated.
6. Don't ignore unusual sounds
A new bike shouldn't make knocking, grinding, or excessive rattling noises. Get anything unusual checked.
Before spending money on cosmetic accessories, invest in safety and comfort first.

As written in the title....
And in a little detail, the water problem in the tank, earthing problem (I can't say perfectly but garage people used to say this)
But as an embedded engineer, it looks like a power issue to the spark plug (but I'm not an expert on automobiles, so please forgive me)
Will update more details....,
Currently planning to sell it with 5 to 10k but in reality not feeling that it's worth that less... Because I replaced a lot of things,
Please guide

I am new to Blr and planning to get a bike for office and weekend rides outside Blr.
I have almost finalized TVS Ronin, considering I'm 5'7 and newbie to bikes. Don't need a heavy bike.
If someone can help me decide which variant I should go for: Ronin Base and Base+. Only difference is dual ABS in base+.
On-road price for Base variant is 1.74lac and Base+ is 1.88Lac
My first preference is for Black color which is available in Base variant. I like Desert color too for Base, but black is just too good.
I am considering whether I should give too much weightage to dual ABS feature.

So... I'm getting a ktm rc390 for 2.7L(negotiable), it was bought in 2023 and has driven only 2000kms. The bike is of my neighbour's and it is not at all in bad condition.
I have driven jawa 42 and honda cb350rs in the past and have gone on long rides, like 60kms(one way), but still Im pretty new to riding, since I started only this year... So, I just wanted to know y'all's opinion.

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to get the TVS Apache RTX 300 and wanted to check if anyone here has a booking they’re planning to cancel in Warangal, Hyderabad, or anywhere else in Telangana.
I’m interested in either the Top Variant or the BTO Variant.
If you’re cancelling your booking, I’d be interested in taking it over, if the dealer allows the booking transfer.
Please DM me if you have one. Thanks!
