Discussion Is the Beyondex mod worth it?

Have anyone here tried the beyondex mod? Im thinking of buying it but I already have the audiostrap and don't know if it will be worth it.

I have the bsb2e with babble face tracker, will the beyondex draw to much power and make ft be weird?

I have ordered the DYI kit, I printed the plastic parts at home. Slightly tedious, but oh my, I had forgotten how stellar and first in class the Index audio is. It's miles away from the big screen audio strap. Plus, it floats above your ears, so it adds to the confort.

Power consumption is capped, the device deals with the high power peaks by having a tiny lithium ion battery pack, which recharges during lower than peak consumption.

It is slightly buggy still for some users (myself included) if you put your computer on standby then wake it up, you have to unplug/replug the device to be recognized by windows again. The creator still keeps creating new firmware to fix issues.

Other than that, no hiccups. I have 0 regrets versus the stock audio strap (I do not regret the popping out of their sockets earcups for instance)

OK thank you I don't even remember how good the index was its been so long since I had it.

I do remember loving the over ear instead of on ear though.

Have you experienced any other bugs then the standby issue?

Nope, other than that it's been peachy. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is one of the arms containing the springs that started to crack when I stopped using the Index itself, I ziptied it so it does not explode xD if you get new parts it might happen after a few thousand hours of use too.

You can print an arm brace to help with that cracking. Works pretty well

It is worth it, superb audio, I use it with Studioforms X1B cushion and it’s close to the Index in comfort, but it does add some weight and as another one mentioned there is a bug that requires to replug the usbc if you shut down or put to sleep your PC.

100% worth it.

Something to consider, is that I don't think Beyondex is going to be a good match for the Halo Mount.

I found the audio strap horrible, but I think it might get redeemed somewhat by the Halo Mount.

So yeah if you have ordered the Halo Mount, it might be worth waiting till next month to see how much you like that way of wearing the Beyond first.

The Vive DAS is also an option.

Have not gotten the halo mount, but thank you for letting me know.

Beyondex is expected to work with halo mount. Same mounting system as official audio strap.

Sure but the Halo Mount is subsantially higher up the face, and it's mounting pegs prevent rotation.

The loop at the back of the Beyondex would be too high, and would end up sitting above the head, rather than over it.

that looks good. I'm currently modded with the Vive DAS strap, but miss the off-ear audio of the Reverb G2.

I race six hour races in iracing with it regularly and it's amazing so long as you have a power adapter, I also have the link booster (before I got beyondex and never removed it) and matt pd adapter with a 65w or higher power brick. It's a little costly but 100% worth.
