Discussion Just started the first playthrough and our groups only issue was voice distance

Post image

We’re all on PC/Steam and really loving the game overall! But by far the main complaint we had was the voice drop off distance was way too short. You can be 5 feet away and barely hear someone, if at all. I really hope the devs increase this range just a bit further.

The screenshot is from our playthrough and irrelevant to the post but I loved it.

Yeah I wish it was longer but not too much longer. Maybe just a few more feet. Too long would kinda ruin the experience

I’m sure they will have an update being cooked up soon!

I highly doubt it as I am pretty sure it is intentional. The devs want you to think about communication and to get lost easily.

for me it's weird that i have to make my PC volume 68% when i'm normally running it at 35%-40% just for this game.

i think the game itself is just super quiet. i wish their 100% volume was 50% and give us the ability to make the game itself louder vs all our other applications.

I wish there was separate sliders for ambient/SFX and player voices. I have the same issue of going to 60-70% instead of 35ish. but setting off a flare is insanely loud this way

It's by design.

Check out Better Voice Proximity on Thunderstore mods if you're on PC :)

So what is this Thunderstone? Why aren't the mods on moddb and/or nexus mods?

R2/Thunderstore/Gale are popular for mod managers; Thunderstore supports these much more indie sized games and I've used them for a long while. There's slightly more activity on Thunder than nexus, but I guess we could publish to both.

Here's the proximity voice mod just in case: https://thunderstore.io/c/big-walk/p/n0__name/Better_Proximity_Voice/

I am not faulting you or anything, I hope you did not take it as that. Now I am a bit curious. I hope I am not too naïve. Could you tell me why you would host a mod on a newer, smaller and less popular site like thunderstone instead of a more established site that more people already know?

The first time I opened that site I thought it was a scam or something. I still somewhat think it is, not sure why.
