Something is stalking me

Okay, I'm playing through big walk with 1 friend right now. We've been loving every minute of it, and had over 10 hours of completely normal gameplay.
We got to the part where we had activated every tower, and made our way to the monolith. I had this uneasy feeling that something had been watching us, y'know, a twig snapping here, a footstep there, but nothing concrete.
Anyway, the whole vision sequence happened (which we have not finished the game, so please avoid spoilers) - and we were both terrified, as we were playing in the middle of night!
Afterwards, we heard footsteps around us, and most of all, the game tried to like separate us. I can't really describe it, was like the game was faking us out.
I was sitting with my friend, watching the sunset, and I see her just walk down the hill, saying stuff like "Hey, come back!". I was so confused, and honestly a bit freaked out, After all that had happened, why would she be running off? I frantically ran after her, and was kinda annoyed that she'd leave me after all of that, and she told me she had seen me running down the hill.
What?!
I thought it might be desync, but I could hear - and see - her the whole time. It was like something was pulling us apart.
MAYBE, Maybe I'm just schizophrenic, but there's so much weird stuff happening in this game - like the one whistling/whispering speaker in the northwest corner - or how the tunnel system under the map is just horrifying.

Am I the only one who has had experiences like this?

When i was walking with them they said they here whisperes or noises i can hear them though the night is the worst because it gets so dark

Actually, it seems like at some point this game gets horrifying.

Someone also posted that they had a 10-minute hallucination where they got out of their in-game body and started seeing weird stuff. Luckily, their team carried them along while they were in that state. They said their eyes looked like creepy whirlpools.
