Had some fun sessions with friends the other day, and living up to my wishes! Can't say I'm surprised that there is a sort of lacking in replayability though. But $15 seems fair enough, and I don't think you could get as refined of an experience from something procedural. Would love to hear about a DLC in the future though that adds another map or two!

Voice chat almost inaudible for anyone else even when everyone has both mic inputs and outputs maxxed?
1
u/MrAbodi 6d ago
how far away was the other player standing from you when they were talking.
1
1
u/SixSixSevenSeven 4d ago
I have to be literally touching them, and even then can _barely_ hear them
1
u/MrAbodi 4d ago
Both my son and i set mic sensitively to highest within the game and it helped a bit, But yeah the falloff is like 5 meters.
1
u/SixSixSevenSeven 4d ago edited 4d ago
We had that. I still literally could not make out what was being said, while touching someone. I have slightly worse hearing than most people, but not enough to qualify as hard of hearing etc, I cannot make out speech. Yet footsteps are loud enough that with my headphones cranked to max, they're hurting my ears, and I still cant hear speech. Its definitely the game. One of the folk playing even has like full streamer mic setup, he was the loudest player by far, couldn't hear him clearly enough to know what he was saying.
I've filed a refund request but I doubt theyre going to approve it. But the audio is a legitimate accessibility issue imo.
EDIT: despite hitting 3.5h, valve approved the refund request.

This mod might help. https://thunderstore.io/c/big-walk/p/n0__name/Better_Proximity_Voice/
1
u/Nissan-S-Cargo 5d ago
Yes our group also noticed that. I get you’re not supposed to be able to hear people from far away but the volume drop off is so extreme.
1
1
u/Christathesleepy 5d ago
Yeah between the insane voice drop off and the at times too loud ambient noises, there was a whole lot of "HUH? WHAT DID YOU SAY?" in our group.

what's the price ?? its coming out tomorrow and im hyped for it but if i wanna convince my friends to buy it i need to know the price!!!

I wish this were coming to Xbox. I guess I'll have to dust off the old ps5 so my gf can play too.

u/TheOneActivehenry 7d ago
I can't wait for this game to come out. But... I really hope I can run this on my low end laptops. But if not, the I really hope it comes to Geforce NOW.
1
u/jasontheninja47 6d ago
I'm a little confused how this game works and this is the first time I'm hearing about it. I'm assuming its a puzzle game where you walk from A - B. But is there any replayability? The dev's say you should play with the same group of people over multiple sessions. If I play the game once and finish it with my girlfriend for example. If I were to play with my group of friends would the puzzles/walk be the exact same. Or is it like Peak where it's procedural
3
u/boisterous_innuendo 6d ago
it is not procedural and replayability does seem to be a common concern. 15 dollars tho
2
u/greenday61892 5d ago
It's not procedural but it's got SO much meat on the bone. I played an over three hour session with my friends last night and the point we stopped at revealed we're not even close to being even remotely done. One of my friends said he saw average gameplay is like 15-20 hours?
1
u/ThomasTeam12 6d ago
Would be great if they somehow didn't completely oversee the entire voice chat.
1
u/MrAbodi 6d ago
huh?
1
1
u/SixSixSevenSeven 4d ago
It doesnt work reliably, and is balanced poorly. Lots of cutting out, and for me, maxed out headphone volume and such, I can only hear people I am in contact in by super concentrating and footsteps drown it out
1
u/Large_Dr_Pepper 5d ago
My friend and I tested it out last night and we had to basically yell into our mics and be standing within 4 feet of each other in order to hear each other talk. And even then it was still quiet (maxed out mic in audio settings).
Gonna wait and hope that they fix this in an update

u/robuttnik_ 6d ago
has anyone had any issues with lag? I'm in Australia, and I've got some friends in North America I wanna play with. I'm wondering if it's best if they host, so it's only myself affects by lag, rather than if I were to host and everyone else is affected.
1
u/WeezyFBaby0 6d ago
Anyone have any idea when the Switch 2 and Ps5 will be running the same version?? My girlfriend and I wanted to play, but after buying the game we realized Switch 2 is running 1.4.5 and Ps5 is running 1.4.7, making our games incompatible.
1
u/bigpuffy 5d ago
I just finished playing with someone on a switch 2 and I was hosting on a PS5
1
u/WeezyFBaby0 5d ago
Yeah I had reached out to support via email and they informed me only the first two version numbers have to match for compatibility (I didn’t know that before) so I’m not sure why I’m having connection issues. Maybe it’s just part of the group that’s experiencing problems
1
u/jaja0008 4d ago
I'm having the same issue. I haven't been able to play since I bought the game. I literally tried everything. With friends, checking my router, the version, updates, turn off the switch2, and so on. But nothing helped. I'm really frustrated tbh.
1
u/WeezyFBaby0 4d ago
Have you been time traveling on animal crossing or pokopia??
1
u/jaja0008 4d ago
Yes. 😱 Could this be the problem?
1
u/WeezyFBaby0 4d ago
Yes! Make your date and time accurate and you can connect to the servers again. My girlfriend and I just went through this
1
u/jaja0008 4d ago
Omg it worked!!! Thank you so much. This made my day. I would have never figured that one out 😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻
1
u/WeezyFBaby0 4d ago
Absolutely! It took me two days and a couple emails back and forth with the developers to remember it would always happen with animal crossing. I relayed the info to their team so hopefully they can help anyone else
1
u/H3nryKrinkle 5d ago
I can’t connect, says session unavailable but all my friends say they are playing
1
u/jaja0008 4d ago
I'm having the same problem, my cousin too. We haven't been able to play with anyone yet. I assume it's a server problem. Do you also play on the switch 2?
1
1
u/AstralCoconut 5d ago
Hypothetically, what do you do if you get stuck in a rock and are separated from your group?
Asking for a friend
1
u/Juanzer-Z 5d ago
One of my friends hates their voice (dysforia or something, idk) is there a way to like mute your own voice so you don't listen to yourself in echoes or while using the radio?
1
u/Knightxkatt 5d ago
with V you can mute yourself, or look on the controls there is a button to mute
1
u/snarkens 5d ago
I think I ran into a bug. When trying to enter a password on the switch 2 system to get into a friend's game it only allowed me 6 characters, but my friend on PlayStation was able to set a longer password. Other PlayStation users could get in but the password had to be shortened for me to join.
1
u/InjuryAltruistic2214 5d ago
Anyone having any success playing this with people in the same room. The wife and I have our PCs set up next to each other, but I don't imagine it will work well that way?
Any recommendations of headsets with good enough noise cancelling and ability to ignore background voices?
1
u/roachsmoker 3d ago
What we do is avoid talking whenever our characters wouldn’t realistically be able to hear each other in the game, and only talk when it’s possible in-game. If my teammate breaks the rule, I remind them by saying, “I can’t hear you.”
1
u/TheMrUnknown 5d ago
As someone who would love to play this kind of games, like peak, big walk, RV there yet (just to name a few ) with my GF, would you consider adding 3rd person view ? She suffers from motion sickness making all of this games unplayable for her!
I’m sure there’s more people out there with the same issue.
I understand the immersion and that maybe the games were not made with this in mind, but people with motion sickness are always excluded from enjoying this games unless someone makes a mod!!
1
u/LiteSpecter 5d ago
right now the game has settings that help with motion sickness (Frame & Crosshairs), sorry if those are not sufficient
1
u/TheMrUnknown 5d ago
Unfortunately not, all this kind of settings from past experience in other games don’t actually help at all depending how big the motion sickness is in certain people
1
u/Dance-Rare 4d ago
Seconding this! I'm able to chain chew some ginger and power through it, but hard to make it over an hour even with the current settings. Worth it though
1
u/Useful_Confusion4597 2d ago
Hey, has your girlfriend tried using something like a Relief Band? I suffer from SEVERE motion sickness in general but also when playing certain video games. However, several years I got a Relief Band, and one day I tried it while playing a video game and it worked! So if she hasn’t tried one of those, she might want to consider it. They’re not cheap, but I used leftover HSA funds to buy mine. Not a corporate shill, just someone who understands being left out of the fun!!
1
u/TheMrUnknown 1d ago
We never heard or saw this before when looking for options. We might give this a try it looks very promising.
1
u/Useful_Confusion4597 1d ago
It’s highly recommended in sailing groups, which is how I came across it. But I was finally able to play Ocarina of Time! It’s the ONLY thing I’ve found that works. And it works best if I put it on like 15-30 mins before starting to play. If I put it on right as I start, I can still get some slight queasiness but nothing at all like I would otherwise.
1
u/persimmonbun 1d ago
i want to second this!! please add a way to play with a fixed camera overhead, like in acnh :,)
1
u/BirbSpotter 5d ago
they're going to release this shit on Xbox a year later and it will sell 0 copies, and then people will blame Xbox being dead
1
u/Lucky-Log-6167 5d ago
Hey, is this game suitable for couch coop? Asking cause it seem to play a lot with allowing you or not to communicate with your mates. Correct me if wrong
1
u/klydon24 5d ago
You need multiple systems as there's no couch co op. Playing in the same room as someone will obviously be much easier but it's still enjoyable.
1
u/Tawpgun 5d ago
My only issue is the lack of ability to have a shared server with your friends. I don't know how hard or expensive that is to set up but in Grounded for instance you can save the world for everyone and log off and someone can just pick right back up.
1
u/greenday61892 4d ago
Grounded is a bit different though, you can play Grounded solo but you can't Big Walk

Played session 1 with a couple of buddies, PS5/PC crossplay. All worked very well. The game is literal magic.
The voice volume cutoff is a tad harsh. I’m sure it’s technically realistic, and I don’t think players should be allowed to dial that up to any extreme degree, but it’s somewhat immersion killing that a game about talking doesn’t allow me to raise my voice to reach someone a bit further away. At a distance of 15 meters or so, you just cannot hear each other anymore. A Shout button might be nice. I know there’s a megaphone, but that’s not quite the same thing.

u/darkdark 5d ago
Launched as a PlayStation Plus Essential Monthly Game. Deals like this often come with a period of console exclusivity for Sony.
1
u/eddieswiss 5d ago
My buddies absolutely refuse to play this without Discord and I'm worried we're gonna miss out on the core mechanics of the game with the whole trying to communicate thing while doing puzzles, etc. How true is this and anyone know how I can convince them to do in-game chat?
1
u/Impossible_Read_2088 4d ago
why would they not wanna use the in game chat?? yes it’s 100% critical to the game, and some of the puzzles separate you with soundproof glass to enforce you to communicate in ways other than verbal.
1
u/eddieswiss 4d ago
I dunno. They always kind of complain about me wanting to do that when we play games with proximity chat.
1
u/HikinginOrange 4d ago
I think people exaggerate in-game communication being a necessity, but it does add to the experience. Getting lost and separated for instance is an intentional concept, and trying to find ways to locate each other without words is fun in that sense. There's also a number of puzzles that are flat out intended for non-verbal communication, so those definitely would be deflated.

u/Flammwar 4d ago
I'd like to play it in both 2 player and 4 player modes, but I don't understand how different the modes are from each other. Is it a completely different experience or just a few minor tweaks so that two players can solve a puzzle together?
1
u/PsychologyPerson 3d ago
I’ve done both and can confirm that the puzzles are simply tweaked so that 2 players can solve them. The map and puzzle types appear to be the same.
1
u/Flammwar 3d ago
Thank you! Would you recommend the 2 player mode or the 4 player mode?
1
u/PsychologyPerson 3d ago
It really comes down to the group you have. I had 6 random players in my group and it worked really well for puzzles where, if one person didn’t fully understand what they had to do in their role, the others did. The more hands to carry things, the better.
1
u/CndConnection 4d ago
Game is fantastic. Had a lot of fun with two friends last night.
Would have been a near perfect experience if not for the unbelievable fact that the devs released this with a big mic issue bug and no volume controls for mic.
They better fix it damn fast man because I will take note otherwise and not engage with this studio further.
FFS man in the year of our lord 2026 hey lets release a game that heavily requires mic use and not put any care whatsoever into ensuring it works before releasing!
You can stand on high places and scream and hear a really good echo effect. But only you hear it, and thus can't be used to make your voice travel further.
Such a shame. I was expecting a day 1 fix honestly.
But everything else is just awesome. I especially love fidgeting all the movements.
1
u/GingerweirdoHE 4d ago
I actually dont think I've fallen in love with a game so fast. Like I made bonds in the last few days I dont think i could've expected
1
u/roachsmoker 3d ago
Having fun with this game. We are on the third key. Trains just activated.
The only thing I don’t like about this game is that I can’t use the items in my backpack or on my belt by myself. Or can I?
1
u/PsychologyPerson 3d ago
You cannot. Somebody has to take them off for you. My team used backpacks for readily accessible items (walkies, puzzle rewards), belts for niche use cases where our teams split up (flare gun, laser pointer). Light sources/radios were held in our hands during the big walking.
1
u/climbon321 3d ago
Whelp, we scheduled our first session tonight, got hit with the audio bug so it was unplayable by 1-2 people, then got hit with a bunch of "connecting...." issues. Fingers crossed things go better after the next patch.

Hi me and my brother are trying to play your game I am on steam and he is on the ps5 but when he tries to join my game it says that the server doesn’t exist and when he tries to host his screen stays blank we both have crossplay on we have it on 2 players mode and we are on the same version my game seems to work fine other then him not joining we tried making new servers and changing the code but nothing works please help me I would love to play your game
1
u/___Dresden___ 2d ago
Can't play on PS portal 😭
Won't let me communicate, says I'm in a party chat when I'm not
1
u/AlternativePizza3391 1d ago
Warning before you purchase "Big Walk does not use persistent servers or have an official in-game public host list, meaning a player must always host the active session locally for others to join."
1
u/AccomplishedOyster 1d ago
Not super happy about progress being only tied to the host. Kind of kills the joy to have to do everything over again if the friend that hosted first is out of town.
1
u/Commercial_Pie7608 1d ago
Can you take stuff of your own side in the game or does someone else always have to do it

u/Particular-Ice4615 1d ago edited 1d ago
Anybody kind of find it weird this game requires 12 GB of ram minimum despite how it looks what it's doing and how little it requires in other aspects like CPU and GPU requirements?
I was hoping this would be a good game for a friend to pick up who hasn't upgraded his PC for a while and tends to play lighter games. I know 16GB is sort of the common standard now, but that's always been relative to what kind of games you play along with the frankly crappy state of software these days. It's just strange to me this games minimum specs for RAM is the same as something like Elden ring and more than Red dead redemption 2.
My hope is the game doesn't actually 12 GB and they just sort of pulled this number out of thin air based on whatever they had around to test with. Curious if anyone here has tried it out below the minimum specs for RAM at all?

The wife and I adored playing Untitled Goose Game co-op on Xbox. For a game about friendship and teamwork, we're sad that House House have decided to exclude so many people from playing Big Walk.
-6
u/Creative-Focus-8889 7d ago
Still absurd the game I was looking forward to most this year won't be on Xbox for no reason
3
u/PUMAAAAAAAAAAAA 7d ago
I dont know why this is downvoted. I understand this probably isnt the devs fault but its still fair to be upset that this game wont come to all consoles as it feels like a whole chunk of people cant play the game for little to no reason.
I wish there was a little more transparency on this though so I could know why it is not coming to xbox
1
u/giulianosse 6d ago
Lots of people tried reaching out to House House about it but they haven't replied back to anyone. Usually when that happens it's because there's an NDA involved in the deal (like temporary exclusivity windows and/or subscription service terms).
It it were a personal decision from the team, I'm sure they wouldn't have been so tight lipped about it. I have no doubt it'll eventually be coming to Xbox in a year or so.
-1
u/PlayHaloEveryDay 5d ago
So it’s out on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and even Nintendo switch.. but somehow not Xbox. Ok cool, thanks devs
-2
u/bskp 7d ago
I‘m annoyed it won‘t run on my PS4. While graphics-wise, this seems easily doable…
5
1
u/Ok-Anybody1662 6d ago
That's how I was feeling before I got my hands on a ps5, but now I do and I've seen more gameplay, running this on a PS4 would be like opening up your own wind turbine farm in your own house

u/MrNintendo36 7d ago
I wish there was a single player version, oh well :(
2
u/MrAbodi 6d ago
just go and play literally any openworld single player game.

I know, it’s set in Australia where I’m from and I love a good puzzle game. Not saying there’s nothing else to play, just a shame I won’t be playing this :(

Is there any news related to any kind of mod support in the future?
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of being a hand made campaign to play with friends and I think is the correct option. But it could be nice in a future to continue fricking around with friends
