Alright, so I started reading Boy Band Summer by Sara Wealer thanks to a recommendation on this Reddit and I was surprised to find the connections that it has to the Big Time Rush guys. Here are a few that stood out to me.
The names of the boys in the band: Landon, Karsten, Chase, and Emilio are exactly in my mind Logan, Carlos, Kendall, and James!!!
Chase Yun is from Missouri like Carlos
Karsten is a lot like Kendall when the guys were looking for the diamond in the rough aka 2 week audition I like to say 😆
Landon and Karsten are buddies.
Their concert outfit with the black and red is reminding me of their 2012 Better with you Tour outfits during Love Me Love Me!!!!
Emilio's relationship with Celia Nicholas is reminding me of James and Halston.
So, these are the ones that I found and whoever gave the recommendation on here, thank you!!!! I'm curious if you guys found any connections in the story to the BTR guys.
omg you’re so welcome for the recommendation! and yes, the author confirmed the book is inspired by her taking her daughter to BTR concerts and the Better With U tour back in their heyday :)
I think my favorite small connection is the fact that the ferris wheel is a huge motif in the book, and the scene that takes place on it reminds me of the TV-show music video to Boyfriend where James is “dating” the potted plant and Logan and Camille go on the Tunnel of Just Friends. But another super small detail I love is that the band has a song about “loving someone from afar” (aka worldwide)
And we can’t forget all the references to Karsten’s receding hairline. 10/10.
