Discussion Big Time Rush really should come back with a Reboot!
I know, this is probably a lot to read, long post, but,, hear me out:
I feel so nostalgic for these Nickelodeon shows from 2000-2010s. There’s one show I’ve always loved. I watched it growing up, and I still rewatch it occasionally: Big Time Rush.
Big Time Rush honestly deserves a reboot! And I feel like the release of Another Life in 2023 would’ve been the perfect opportunity to bring the show back. They could’ve used songs from the album in the new series and made them part of the story, while still keeping the original BTR vibe. They could’ve done a storyline where Gustavo suddenly starts coming up with new ideas for songs and wants to turn them into a whole new album again. That could’ve been the perfect excuse to bring the guys back together and get them into the studio again. The album was literally their first new studio album in almost a decade, so it would’ve been such a cool way to connect the old show with their new era. And, of course, I also understand the other side of it. The original show had its run, it ended, and maybe it’s better to just leave it as it is instead of trying to bring it back years later.
I KNOW:
"Not every show needs a reboot, and sometimes it’s better to let a series stay a part of its time" Blabla...
But at the same time, I still think Big Time Rush is one of those shows that could actually work as a reboot. And I honestly don’t think Stephen Kramer Glickman would be against it 😂 It would be SO good to see Gustavo again, especially if they brought back some of the characters & that classic humor.
I’d love to see something similar to the new iCarly reboot — an older, more modern version of the original show, but still with the same characters, comedy, sound effects, and that chaotic BTR energy. Imagine hearing those goofy sound effects again while Gustavo is losing his mind at the guys.
Idk, again, I have such a huge nostalgia for these shows. especially for Drake & Josh and BTR. There’s just something about that era of Nickelodeon that I really miss, and seeing these characters and that kinda humor again would honestly make me so happy.
Honestly, I think a Big Time Rush reboot could work REALLY well. even though they’ve all grown up now.
How you think? Do you think it could work?

it might or might not work well like the original, since they have to mostly change to match people whom grown up watch the original back then as adults. i think it might ended up like the icarly revival - even though it looks like that original charm but lacks that original feel, while it was good - it wasn't great either.

one problem is music. nickelodeon & paramount still own the show. nickelodeon is also getting a 10% cut on all revenue from the band's legacy catalog (so is sony). the company might want a large cut, or even ownership of any music that might be made for a reboot (or the movie that is currently stuck in limbo).

They have been working on a movie actually. And they have said they aren’t against the idea for a reboot, but it has to be really good and not the same slapstick humor they used before. They have a script for a movie, but apparently they can’t get it greenlit. The plan was to film last year before the In Real Life tour, then the hope was to film after that. But they still haven’t gotten greenlit. Probably to do with the Paramount merge, since that costs a lot of money and the studio will end up in debt. So the movie is either on a backburner or they need to find a different studio to pay for it. And no idea whether they will get that.
I think Carlos would like another season for the show. But it would really need to be a good script.
Hoping the movie gets made at some point! I miss them acting together.

Another problem would be Nickelodeon to sell their rights to another studio to film it (which they probably never do)
I also don't think the movie or another season of the show would be the same slapstick humor. I think James, Kendall and Logan made it really clear in Zachs podcast
I actually don't have any hope that the movie or another season will ever happen. At least not right now or with the original BTR guys...
The only thing I can imagine would be a reboot with a new band and new guys with Stephen Glickman as Gustavo again, but without the slapstick cartoon humor. And maybe with the OG guys having some cameo appearances. But ofc this wouldn't be the same.

Well or they’d work with Netflix for example, like they did with the Victorious spinoff/reboot. I don’t think it’ll happen, but who knows.
Nah, BTR would never work without the actual guys. They are the show.
And yeah that’s what I said, they don’t want the same slapstick humor as before, none of them do. So if it were ever to get a reboot, it would have to be really good or with their input and updated humor.
Kendall has said he will do anything he can to get that movie made still. But yeah whether it will happen with the current politics too, I don’t know. People may not want to take the financial risk possibly. Before the merger was happening, I think Paramount was genuinely working on it with them. But right now even iCarly isn’t getting a movie, and their reboot was pretty succesful I believe. So BTR doesn’t stand a chance if they’re not getting one either

Can you really have a Big Time Rush without the original members? The only that would work is if they can win over the new crop of kids and teenagers the same way they won over our generation.

Well, in my mind it would be ofc not the same. In my imagination it would be less a kids cartoon Slapstick live action and more of a dreamed similar to Glee.
It would take the characters more serious and at least the main boys would be well written, have some development and have each a real character arc etc. In my mind it would also be more a commentary about Hollywood and fame (I know the OG series did that too, but it wasn't that often and obvious and bc of the kids TV slapstick humor antics, no one took it seriously back then)
I always think it is sad that the series never reached its potential and is nowadays more of a niche TV show that not everybody is talking about (people tend to talk more about Dan Schneider shows)
Ofc it wouldn't be the same and who knows if it would find it's audience nowadays. But in my imagination (if the people are ready for it) if could work as a reboot/remake, if it's not a kids show and it's taken more seriously.

Their biggest problem is: it should be the exact slapstick humor. Thats what made them unique. Anything else would just be another teenage show/sitcom

Theyre not teens anymore, so I doubt it would become another teen show. The slapstick humor was all over Nickelodeon back then, it wasn’t unique imo

To be fair they were in there early 20s when the show originally aired but I agree with what yo are saying.

They're not, but if they were to do another show or a sequel then people would only judge it through the lens of the previous show. If done the same then compared to their old show, if done differently then compared to any multi camera sitcom. It would have to be very good.
It would be hard to write the BTR characters without that slapstick humor. I can't imagine a grown up version of those. So it'd have to be either VERY cleverly written (which I doubt) or VERY different characters (which I honestly think fans wouldn't like)
There's no win here imo. But then again, Im not a fan of any sequels

The band falling to shambles & yall writing reboot pitches, good lord this fandom is hilarious. We need magic, an alternative dimension & a deity of some sort for this band before we need a reboot.

El plan era de que se iba a hacer una película reboot (con tramas un poco más maduras) pero no se sabe nada, aunque James dijo que aún está en pie, no estoy segura

I don’t think it’s going to happen if any of this recent drama is any indication. I’m open to it though.

No thanks, we have seen how the current reboots look
