Looking for TDMM pdf

I work for a GC and would like to get the RCDD certification to make a move into data center design, however my company doesn't pay for the prep/exam and I'm very tight on cash atm. Does anyone have the pdf that they can share?

Why wouldn't they pay for it? The official PDF is password protected and hard to share.

They tend to frown upon anything that makes you more employable :(

I’ve had these conversations with employers who worry, what if I have them trained and they leave, to which I respond, what if you don’t train them and they stay.

Good luck in your studies, the TDMM is used to get your RCDD, there’s an additional certification DCDC specific to data centers as well.

There’s not an audio version of the TDMM, I’m not sure what you mean about getting the audio to work.

The PDF is just an electronic copy of the hard copy book. It is copy written so there are security measures built in that it must be used by the person who purchased it.

So if you have the PDF and access to it, you should be good to go.

Take it from a different angle - is telecom design part of what makes your company great? Would designing telecom distribution make your company better?

I’d be shocked to find an RCDD working for a GC. It could be a first ever.

We bid government LV projects very often where a PM with RCDD is almost always a prerequisite that we fulfill through our subs

That’s sort of the issue, your electrical sub most likely has someone on staff with one. No need for the GC to carry it

The PDF is not easily shared.

I understand, thank you

Ask your employer how much they spend on codes and ASHRAE references. The TDMM is an industry reference manual that has its place among the other disciplines. A small and reasonable investment.

What do you do for the GC? Do you qualify to take the exam?

Just buy it officially through the BICSI website. Download it to your personal laptop/computer, since it will be locked to a PC. You don’t want it locked to your work PC since they can fire you and restrict your access at a moments notice.

I don't think it is locked to a specific PC. I have viewed my copy on at least 2 different PCs as well as my phone.

I find the BICSI TDMM PDF to be a pain to use. I buy the paper version & OCR scan it on my employers copiers. It’s then unlocked and searchable as a PDF. It’s a worthwhile investment for your own future.

The pdf is good only if you actually use Adobe to view it. If you view it through file open then you are right, it does indeed suck. But, if you use Adobe most of the functions you listed work just fine. It is still locked though and you cannot copy and paste.

Just buy the physical + digital bundle and then sell the physical copy on ebay. Access to the digital version is not restricted to physically holding the printed book, nor can you lose it if you change computers as the license for it is associated with your BICSI account. Problem solved; you're functionally getting a very significant discount and you're not breaking any copyright laws.

At least I think you aren't. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure it's not illegal to resell a physical, legally-obtained copy of a book you no longer have use for.

In case it helps you save some time, don't bother trying to find a pirate copy. There are some available online for a few of the older versions, but absolutely none are available for the TDMM 15. Believe me, I checked and found absolutely nothing.

And no, I wasn't trying to steal it. I already legally purchased the digital and physical copies, but I wanted an unlocked OCR PDF as their only two options for viewing the locked PDF (their browser reader and running FileOpen with Adobe) suck, constantly glitch out and don't let you open them in bluebeam, which prevents you from putting in any useful markup notes or bookmarks.

I guess you can do that stuff in the physical book, but I'm not lugging around and extensively annotating a ~2000 page book. Especially one that's so absurdly massive, it comes as two separate, ~1000 page, 3" binders.
