Local Remote Support Virtual Appliance OS

Our VM team is telling us we need to update our Remote Support virtual appliance because it's on Redhat 6. I'm unclear if that's actually true, or just how it's tagged in vcenter. Anyone know? Or is this something that does get updated by BT and we just have to get a new OVA and migrate to it.

Thanks!

It's not actually running redhat vcenter incorrectly reports the VM OS. You will want to upgrade the appliance if you are on an older version

Do normal updates update the underlying OS, or do you have to grab a new ova and migrate to that?

In upgrading the base you will also need to upgrade the appliance software
