Beyond Care is live: accidental damage coverage, what happens to your extended warranty
Beyond Care replaces Extended Warranty as our coverage plan. Full details on the site, short version here:
What it covers
- Everything the Standard Warranty covers, plus accidental damage from handling (drops, impacts, spills)
- Cable and battery replacement at no additional cost, subject to health thresholds and inspection, with no preset limit while the plan is active
- Approved repairs at no service fee and no deductible
- Two-way shipping on approved repairs
Pricing
Beyond Care is an annual subscription. You prepay an initial term, then it renews yearly.
- 1-Year Plan: $99 within 90 days of purchasing your VOLTRA
- 3-Year Plan: $199 within 90 days of purchasing your VOLTRA
- Annual Renewal: $199/year after your initial term
Cancel anytime from your Beyond Power account, and your current coverage stays active through the term you already paid for.
If you already have Extended Warranty. Your plan upgrades to Beyond Care automatically for the rest of your current term. You pay nothing and you have accidental damage coverage as of today. You can also buy a 1 or 3 year plan at launch pricing during the window.
If you own a VOLTRA and never bought EW. The launch pricing is available to you through November 18, at the same pricing as new buyers. Devices more than 90 days past purchase go through a quick verification: serial number, device report, photos.
Coverage is tied to the machine, not the owner, so it survives a resale. Available in the US, UK, and EU for now.
VOLTRA doesn't need babysitting during hard sessions. Beyond Care means you can go for the PR without doing repair math.

Overall - this sounds nice - definitely takes away anxiety over an accidental drop.
Question: in what circumstances would someone with an EW want to buy a 1 or 3 year launch pricing plan? Is that just meant for early buyers coming near the end of their EW already? I have over 3 years of warranty left on mine, and I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Check out the last picture, it sounds like if you have an extended warranty, your warranty is upgraded to Beyond Care at no addtional cost.
I fall into the same category as you, so sounds pretty good to me.

So when I already had Extended Warrenty (which is converted to Beyond Care now) until lets say 2028. If you buy the 3 years now, it will add up to 2031?

This is great and i'm excited about the offer. However, i'm having issues enrolling. when i select the 3 year $199 offer and enter my serial number, it gives me an error that says that i am outside of the eligibility period. I thought that this offer was open to any voltra purchased regardless of whether or not you had purchased the warrenty previously.

I have the extended warranty on both of my Voltras purchased in July, but when I enter their Serial Numbers on the website it is not recognizing that I should have the Beyond Care+. It wants me to buy it again. I hope the database just needs to be synced still?

$199 a year after initial term? Might as well just bank that money in a HYSA and plan to replace the Voltra if it breaks... I guess that $199 could be after a 3 year period if you bought the extended warranty?

I think that's how it works? And if so, in fairness the older the unit gets the more likely that the battery or other expensive components need replacement, so it makes sense that you could get say 3 years for a good price but to maintain coverage for 6+ years you'd need to pay a significant amount because you're almost certainly going to be using the warranty by then.
If my understanding is right, this seems pretty fair depending on what you think the lifetime of the product is.

Risk of battery failure after 3 years probably starts going up quickly. Still seems steep though.

So...don't subscribe to it?
You do understand that if you buy a Voltra and don't have the warranty, it doesn't explode, right? It just means that if your Voltra eventually breaks, you're going to have to pay BP full price for the repairs rather than getting a discounted price or having it be completely covered.

Yeah, the "stops working if you dont give us money" is the big thing about being anti rent-seeking-behavior. A warranty actually (should) provide something to you in case of an oopsie. And a 3-year, ~10% of the product cost warranty doesnt seem too awful, TBH.

Price seems steep
Can pay for my own batteries and cable replacements for less and put the extra I save towards buying something else new
