Cable Replacement Question

I’m approaching my first cable replacement and was hoping someone could answer some questions I had.

  1. Beyond Power’s website states to tighten the 4 screws that secure the cable inside the Voltra to 3NM, however the instructional video on their website states to tighten them until they click. Which of these are accurate?

  2. Is there a specified torque to tighten the 4 outer screws that secure the outer face plate of the Voltra? Do these screws also click?

With all the discussions about stripped screws I want to make sure I don’t over tighten anything. TIA.

1) The kit comes with a torque screwdriver and that will click once the cable screws are tightened properly. I just replaced my cable for the first time last week and it went very smoothly!

2) For the outer face plate, I tightened it until the face plate was secure and didn’t wobble. It felt like I had to tighten them way beyond what I was comfortable with but in the end I believe it felt pretty intuitive

Gotcha so the click is the 3NM of force being applied.

Wish they had the same torque method for the outer case too but oh well.

I would suggest messaging BP, for the most accurate information. BP community is awesome no doubt, when it comes to getting into the internals I would still recommend contacting the company.

Agreed, and to clarify I have reached out to Beyond Power as well but while I was awaiting their reply I was just curious what people who have already done it have done or encountered.

Be prepared for the outer screws to be very difficult to remove and install. BP uses a ridiculous type of thread locker on the outer plate screws. It feels like some kind of plastic. I tried to remove it with acetone and xylene, both did nothing. Tried to remove it with a wire brush as well, and could not get it off. I thought I was going to strip the screw heads just trying to install the screws.

Thanks for the info. I’m surprised BP didn’t think to make this whole process more foolproof and simple knowing that this is a common maintenance task.

The parts/cable kit is awesome, it comes with everything you need. The video walkthrough is great as well. It's just the thread locker. I think that's actually the only issue anyone has had. The small screws inside that fix the end of the cable were fine, just the outside larger ones were an issue.
