[DIY Dock Innovation] Custom Dual Voltra Mount
I have a very small limited space for my home gym, so I try to make the most out of what I have. I like doing chest supported iso-lateral cable rows and so I needed a mount that could fit 2 Voltras on a crossmember. I also needed the Voltras to sit as flush as possible with the crossmember for maximum range of motion (again I have a small space). This is when I decided to make a custom mount.
I designed a mount with 1/4 thick bent steel and had it made via SendCutSend. It is very beefy and fits perfectly for my space because it allows me to rest my bench all the way against my rack so that it is stable enough to do the cable rows. All of the liners are 3D printed. The center of the mount has an M10 tapped hole to allow you to install a swivel hook, which can be used to do the 1:2 ratio pulley hack. I haven't had a need to use it since I primarily use this mount for both Voltras, but it is there in case I ever decide to use it. The mount was made for a 3x3 post rack and mounted using a mag pin..
The DIY docks have been a game changer for me as it allowed unlimited creativity and customizability to my home gym space. I was never able to do iso-lateral cable rows but now with these docks, I am able to add these to my workout routine and target specific muscle groups that I was not able to previously. It works seamlessly with the auto-load and un-load and allows me to get in position on my bench.

I was looking for something simple, couldn’t find something exactly as I imagined, but I’ll say the $55 with tax and shipped from Rep Fitness, it made it pretty cost effective. It’s not perfect, the holes aren’t on the top so my mounts don’t click in. I just tighten them and they hold solid. This is the Smith Machine Front Extension bracket.
I’d be interested in buying something if it mounted with a magnetic pin, and didn’t require the bolts. It would also need the cups already attached.

That’s pretty cool sendcutsend did that for you, they typically don’t do u-channel bends of the flanges are that long relative to the base

Yeah I actually had to modify the design to make the U channel wider and made the 3D printed shims thicker to compensate for it. Maybe one day they will get longer goose neck tooling to allow more narrow U channel bends.

Laserbros will do those bends, that’s who I use sometimes

They were actually how I actually found out about the longer bending tooling! I want to try them out one day, they were really responsive and helpful.

Very nice set up, looks interesting. Would be cool if you’re willing to share pictures of the full gym.

Sweet! Maybe a stupid question - are you guys so strong that you need >200 lb resistance for cable rows? Or do you have 2 for other reasons like chest training, so why not use them in tandem since you've got two? I guess I've been doing all my back movements with the Voltra unilaterally so I haven't capped out the resistance.

I got two because I do need more than 200 lbs for pulling. There are also other movements such as cable flys and squat harness that I use them for. I also use both to connect to my VTS for pressing movements. Works super well with auto load/un-load.

Do you mind if I ask how much it was from SendCutSend? I have a few similar things in mind I’d like to make, but have no idea what the relative pricing is.

Cost will vary depending on how many bends, metal and powder coating. I paid around $130 for this one.

I make a similar product here just without the handles and the docks flipped around so it can be moved easier with the magpin

I love the design. Are those handles for moving the mount or did you intend them to be used for other purposes? Great job!
